Kerry Event in Albuquerque Tomorrow Morning Cancelled...
but I doubt anyone will mind when they hear the reason. Here's the email I just received:

"We are sorry to announce that Senator John Kerry's event for tomorrow June 22nd has been postponed until further notice.

"Senator Kerry is returning to support a Senate amendment put forth by Sen. Tom Daschle to provide mandatory funding for veteran's healthcare.

"'John Kerry fought with other veterans in Vietnam, and on Tuesday he will be fighting for them again in the U.S. Senate,' said Moses Mercado, Kerry's New Mexico State Director. 'I am certain that the thousands of New Mexicans who were eagerly awaiting John Kerry will understand that he needs to continue his fight to ensure that veterans get the health care they deserve.'"

Way to go, you lovely Dems! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

1. I don't envy him -
trying to balance his Senatorial duties and his campaign. And his poor staff (at both levels) must go nuts, too.

2. I'm glad he's going back for this one
And I'm glad they didn't manage to blindside him this time around and that he had time to get back.

3. That vote is so much more important.
Our Veteran's deserve it. I hope ALL Democrats show up for this vote.

5. Indeed they do, and I hope every single Dem senator is
present and votes yes. Sadly (and shamefully) one of our local news anchors just commented that the vote was expected to be close.

6. NM has a large vet population...so leaving for this vote should
be viewed favorably. A very wise move...

7. Absolutely. This amendment has to pass.
And at the risk of incurring flames, does anyone know where one J. R. Edwards will be tomorrow?

8. Edwards was in the Senate today and I'm sure he will be there...
tomorrow. Do you really think for a moment that he would miss this vote anymore then Kerry would?

Of course this bill has to pass. None of us would agree against that.

9. I'm glad to hear that. I hope every Dem senator is present and
voting "yes" tomorrow. Well, every senator but Zell, I mean. I suppose it's too much to hope that he'd do the right thing and vote with his party for once.

10. LOL...no Zell...might actually have to change to Repug
if he ever actually voted with the Dem caucus for once. I don't think he knows how to vote with the people that claims to be a member of their party.

11. Kerry was just speaking in the Senate...
About this bill. Sounds like the GOP are trying to stop it or delay it. The complaint they are making is that it costs too much. Kerry made a good counter about the Trillion that was given back to the top 2% of Americans who don't need health coverage as opposed to helping Vets. He basically said that it was a question of choices that had to be made.

I liked the closing note that was something like..."We can vote on this today...or we can vote on it next month...or we can let the people vote in Nov." I might not have it exact...but I thought it was a pretty good hit.

Sounds like they are going to be in the Senate working real late and I don't know if this bill is going to come up for a vote or not.
