I wanted to say something about repubs supporting Nader

I know there is a tread in LBN about this so delete this if necessary but here is what I want to say.

Where I work, the place is being run by what I call a process oriented person. To her the rules and the process are most important. I think that she believes in the process so much that she feels the results will be what they should be because the process is good. Well the results of her process are not good and either she is oblivious to that fact or she just doesn't want to deal with it.

I am what I call a results oriented person. Like one of Steven Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, I try to see the end first. The process is not so important to me if the desired result is attained. Now this is not an absolute for me but comes close.

People who want a third party candidate but are opposed to Bush's re-selection, are process oriented I think. To me the most most important result needed in this years election is the defeat of Bush, being process oriented, or wanting a third party candidate this year is not going to bring about that result.

If you are really interested in defeating Bush you would not support a third party candidate this year or in other words, you would reject the process and look to the results as being most important. If you do support third party candidates in this years election, in my opinion you don't really give a damn about the result and you are as responsible for Bush's re-selection as any repub that votes for him or tries to get Nader on the ballot.

Flame away.

3. Just for kicks
Maybe they think they are results oriented, that even if Kerry is elected, the results won't be that different in improving the country and the world. Therefore, whether the country is destroyed by Democrats or Republicans isn't important, Democrats and Republicans are the process of destruction to them.

Does that make sense or have I had too many cups of coffee today?

I think they're wrong by the way, I think alot of people are going to be totally shocked by the direction Kerry takes this country. (Hopefully it's not me!)

5. Well if you look at the 2000 election you will see the results of that
thinking. One definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and expecting a different result.

6. Intellectual entertainment only
I wasn't actually supporting anybody who thinks supporting a 3rd party is a good idea this year. I smack 'em every chance I get!! Mental gymnastics, whatever you want to call it, that's why I titled the post "just for kicks".

4. Voting for a 3rd party candidate...
...may temporarily ease one's conscience. But it's an unrealistic position, as the way the electoral system is organized it makes it near-impossible that Greens or Libertarians will win the White House.

that people who vote for third-party candidates are purists who do so out of dissatisfaction with the status-quo and business as usual. They hold an idealistic world view that allows nobody to go hungry and provides jobs and healthcare for everybody who needs it -- free of cost. No jobs would go overseas and all manufacturing jobs now done in China or Mexico would be done in the U.S. for a higher minimum wage to American workers.

In their perfect world there would never be a war and companies would always put people and environmental concerns over profits. CEO's would all take pay cuts to insure workers a higher income. We would never be threatened from foreign aggressors and there would be no need for weapons to defend ourselves with.

The rich would pay more taxes and the middle-class would have their taxes cut in half. The poor would never have to pay taxes.

For those people who think Kerry is just more of the same-old, same-old, STOP gambling with my future and the future of my children and grandchildren because if you cast your vote for Ralph Nader you are throwing your vote away and putting George Bush back in the White House for another four years. Nobody is going to remember who you voted for except yourself and if you're smart you won't admit it.

After another four years with Bush we may not have free elections anymore so you won't have to worry about "sacrificing your principles" to vote for a legitimate candidate like Kerry.
