CO: Kerry within striking distance of Bush (Bush: 48, Kerry: 43)
Democrat John Kerry is within striking distance of President Bush in Colorado - a state that tends to vote Republican in presidential elections.

While Kerry is trailing Bush by 5 percentage points in the state, according to a Denver Post poll, the slim margin reveals more about the president than his rival.

"This election is about the incumbent. Voters are asking, 'How is his performance? Does he deserve to be rehired?"' said Larry Harris, a director of Mason-Dixon Polling & Research Inc., which conducted the poll. "Right now, it looks like Bush is vulnerable in Colorado, and that spells opportunity for Kerry."

Bush is leading the state with 48 percent, while Kerry has support from 43 percent.

1. Huzzah!
I'm moving to Colorado in two weeks from Texas. I was hoping my top of the ticket vote might count for something this go'round.

2. With 18 weeks to go before the election I think every state is in play.
There's no telling how many times Bush can shoot himself in the foot between now and then.

3. Bush upstaging Kerry?
In such a way as to give himself credit for losing the election? In a twisted way I could allow him this one "victory" but Kerry will soon enough be front and center and people will see a real President and forget- for just one shining moment- that that embarrassing horror is still in the WH.
