Bush gets boost in Arizona poll (Bush 47%, Kerry 35%)
PHOENIX -- Arizonans are happier with the George W. Bush's handling of the economy and that's good news for the president, according to a new statewide survey.

The poll of 400 registered voters show that 50 percent of those asked approve of the way Bush is dealing with the nation's financial health, with 44 percent opposed.

What makes that particularly significant is that only 41 percent were pleased with Bush's economic performance just last month; four months earlier his approval rating on the economy stood at 40 percent.

Pollster Bruce Merrill who conducted the survey for KAET-TV, the Phoenix PBS affiliate, said if those patterns continue it could provide Bush with the backing he needs to take Arizona -- and other key states in the upcoming election.

1. this is very surprising
a 12-point lead for Bush now!!?? Will the economy's more robust performance in the past couple of months put Bush over the finish line in November?

2. You've got to remember,
he said the word "optimism" in his last campaign ad. That means everyone is now optimistic. /sarcasm

3. Hello Arizona! You dumb ass bastards. Are you forgetting about
Bush's lies, his illegal war, and the thousands killed?, or is it only the economy you're worried about? I guess any state that would elect dipshits like Hackworth could vote for anything. I live in Yuma, and am constantly surprised at the ignorance levels of Arizona voters. One would think AZ were the hills of East Texas sometimes..... Maybe it's time to move.

5. Look how many undecideds there are
BTW, Bush getting 47 percent in a state he won solidly isn't exactly wonderful news.

6. Kerry was just in AZ and had a good reception...
Let's hope he can start to turn around those numbers. It's still early things can change. I'd keep the hope open for Arizona still.
