Chris Heinz comment on crossfire about John Edwards for vp
He said that although he supported John Edwards early in the spring he thinks that they now need some one with more foreign policy or national security. the Republican shill on crossfire wants Edwards.

2. Novack is berating Clark
he has nothing but shit to say about Clark and says he had the worse campaign and was the worse candidate why is he even on the list? The Repukes are scared to DEATH of Clark and this just proved it. The repuke shill did not say a word about him.

7. Did you notice that Clark got applause from the audience
& Donna Brazile said Gen Clark developed a following during the primaries.

At least they are aware of the Clarkies.

Novak trashed Wes, which means he is good for the ticket.

14. If the Dems haven't figured out by now that
the Republicans fear Clark the most and they are salivating for the personal injury attorney, they NEVER will.

23. Novak berating Clark made me think...
aha! He IS "THE ONE" they fear. It's SO obvious what they're doing! I hope Kerry sees it, like we do.

25. Novak has his hands dirty from the CIA agent leak scandal
The last thing he wants on his hands now is someone like Clark tying all the corruptly political and vindinctive pieces of the Bush Administration together into one ugly picture, and Wes is the exactly man to do that.

3. Is this a new clip or the old one?
Were they repeating the one with the subtitles and the rough audio, or is this a reiteration?

4. This is a problem I have with Edwards-the GOP seems to....
Really, really, really want to run against him. Am I the only one who sees that?

Plus, he was 'vetted' at the last Bilderburger meeting.

Now why might I have a problem with that?

Sheesh.

5. If I were John Edwards I would resent Kerry's stepson
going on the air and publically saying this. If he is off the list maybe Kerry himself should say so instead of his stepson.

9. I don't care what he says
and of course he is entitled, but he is also the stepson of the candidate and whether it is his intention or not his words will be used as a signal, as it is being taken by many of Clark supporters on DU, that somehow Edwards is out of the mix and Clark is the chosen one. I think that is disrespectful to Edwards, imo.

12. I don't. It is his opinion and his opinion only. He already said he has
nothing to do with the VP selection process, so why call a waaaaambulance about it?

29. It's weird that he posted here a few weeks ago saying that when
he said that it wasn't meant for general consumption, and now he goes on TV and repeats it.

Clearly, the campaign wants to get the message out through him.

I wonder what game they're playing.

8. It was a quote in the middle of a statement but I did not catch the date
So he did not say it on the air publically, Crossfire had the quote on the screen behind Begala and Novack. Novack was sooooooooo condensending of Clark he was not believable, I think the Repukes genuinely fear Clark.

13. Those of us on DU will not make a hell of a lot of difference
to the Kerry campaign, but I do agree that the step-son of the candidate has to be careful so I imagine that Chris Hienz made the statement knowing that it was ok with the campaign or else he would have not made it. My guess is that it will be someone with more foreign policy and national security experience, not neccessarily Clark, I hope so but not neccessarily. But I would be surprised if it was Edwards, I think he will be tapped for AG

24. He didn't go on the air
He said it at a private house party. It was reported in the press, but I don't remember where. There is a thread on it here at DU in which Chris Heinz explains where he said it. Crossfire only referred to it as far as I saw, but I didn't see the entire show.

Clark supporters have been posting this for weeks now. Not terribly compelling when it was fresh and now it just seems desperate.

19. No
A statement that he made was the backdrop for a segment on the vp process. Begala and Novack talked and dissed several vp candidates and one of the statements made by Chris Heinz was put up and read at the very begining of the segment and it refered to Edwards.

21. I know I should have better reasons for choosing who I'd like as VP...
...but I just can't help thinking of picking the person I really REALLY want to see debate Cheney.

Because of this, I love the idea of either Clark or Dean. I don't know if these two are even a realistic possibility or not (I'm not up to date on all the possible VP news) but either one would make the debate very interesting. :)

26. Just for your information here is the link to the other thread...
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=551081&mesg_id=551081

Chris himself responded on that thread. One of the things he said..

I was talking to supporters at a house party, and look where things end up.

Kind of a hard lesson on politics. When you are the step-son of the Presidential nonenee...the press will grab at anything you say to get a story.

Lucky for us John Kerry will make the best decision and I'm sure that choice will be great whoever it is.
