WASHINGTON, July 30 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The following was released today the by Kerry-Edwards Campaign:
Kerry spokesman Phil Singer said: "Last night John Kerry (news - web sites) pledged to restore trust and credibility to the White House and today George Bush showed us why that's needed. A brand new shiny speech won't cover up Bush's failure to help middle class families. America doesn't need more misleading campaign slogans, we need a new President."

Wages Stagnating Under Bush. In 2004, wages and salaries rose a slim 0.6 percent for the second quarter in a row. Over the past 12 months, wages are up just 2.5 percent, matching the period through March as the smallest 12-month gain on records dating to 1982. According to the Department of Labor, in the last 12 months, wages and salaries grew at the slowest rate in over 20 years. In the first 2 years of the Bush administration, real income has dropped by almost $1,500 per household. (US Department of Labor; US Census; Reuters, 7/29/04)
State Taxes are Rising. Since the beginning of the Bush administration, because of revenue shortfalls and reductions in federal support, 32 states have been forced to raise net taxes and fees by a total of $16.2 billion. (Center for Budget and Policy Priorities; Blueprint, Vol. 2003, No. 3)
