Rudy Giuliani
Saw today in the National Enquirer (OK...not the best source of info) that Rudy may step in to fill the VP slot this fall after Cheney "voluntarily" steps down due to health reasons.

Does anyone think that the "savior" of NYC after 911 has a chance? Or is he too liberal a Republican to satisfy the Christian right in the party?

Just curious.

1. 3 words: too much baggage
Julianni was having an affair while married. Not only that, he had his "paramour" come to Gracie Mansion while his wife and kids were still living there.

He is a NON-STARTER.

3. He is not a Neocon....

4. Plus, the 9-11 families are NOT happy with Giuliani's support of Bush
over them and their quest for a 9-11 commission. They know he's with the side that wanted the coverup.

5. If conservatives think he can win...he's in!
They really have no scruples. They backed Arnold so why wouldn't they back Guiliani if they thought he could help. They will probably disconnet Cheney in a heartbeat.

7. If Cheney Stepped Down
...he'd be the first President* to decline a second term since Lyndon Johnson.

8. Saint Rudy! What a fraud
The media has pumped this guy up ever since his single success as mayor - rallying New Yorkers on 9-11. Talk to most NYers and they'll share their virulent hatred for the man and his failed policies. He has zero foreign policy experience yet is continually asked his opinion on Iraq on pundit shows. People I know who live in NY call him a "Nazi" and they're being nice.

If not for the GOP-influenced corporate-controlled media, this goon would be back prosecuting drug dealers.

9. The Fundies will never accept it
GOP is the anti-choice party. Putting a pro-choicer within a heartbeat of the top job is too much for the base to take.

10. Rudi is too pro-gay and pro-abortion rights for the fundies in the GOP
The RW will settle for nothing less than Tom DeLay on the ticket.

11. I think Giuliani would fracture the fanatically religious support for Bush
They will not dig his pro-gay and pro-choice beliefs.

13. They won't dig the fact that Rudi cheated on his wife
and married his mistress. The GOP conservatives hated Nelson Rockefeller for having an affair, and they hated Clinton even more. Sex is always a pretext for these people to hate.

14. Yeah, it would make a hypocrite out of the anti-Clintonian Repubs
The Repubs are mired in extreme hatred for the Clinton clan and promoting a VP who did just what Clinton did will destroy their credibility.
