Let`s nail Bush on this one.
One of the newest talking points for the Republican spin machine is that John Kerry did next to nothing in his Senate career. No signature legislation, nothing of importance. Yesterday Bush joined in the chorus, as if he knew ANYTHING about accomplishments.

Let`s start asking for a compilation of Bush`s contributions to our country in last twenty years.Make that 30 years so we can get the full picture of his bravery under fire during the Vietnam War.

3. "...biggest mistake he ever made."
Sosa began his Major League career in 1989 with the Rangers. After being sent again to the minors, he was traded to the Chicago White Sox (a move that U.S. President George W. Bush, then the Rangers' owner, later joked was the biggest mistake he ever made).

Oh, I'm sure there are a couple others that are even bigger.:7

2. He Commuted the Death Sentence
of Henry Lee Lucas - arguably the most prolific serial killer in history - to life in prison without possibility of parole. Not one death row inmate received similar consideration during *'s tenure as governor of Texas. That constitutes the extent of *'s 'compassionate conservatism.'

5. Look at all the execution orders...
Chimpy signed. Look at the dehumanizing comments he made about Carla Fay Tucker.

Chimpy has a lot in common with Henry Lee. Kindred spirits.

Everywhere he has gone, in his official capacities, death was sure to follow.

7. WHY NOT??
I want to know why Kerry DOESN'T blast his last 20 years of service over the airwaves... champion his senate career as what it is:
An amazing job of constant thinking action... on his feet, making INTELLIGENT decisions that we needed when we needed them.

Has * done anything to remotely emulate even one DAY of Kerry's career???

8. A side by side time line would be GREAT
Edited on Sun Aug-01-04 10:37 AM by Tom Rinaldo
Bear with me because I don't have the dates and facts handy, but the concept is obvious. In 1966 Kerry volunteered for Viet Nam. In 1966 Bush _____. In 197_ Kerry prosecuted so and so for such and such. In 197_ Bush had such and such business go down the tubes. In 199_ Kerry sponsored such and such legislation. In 199_ Bush traded Sammy Sosa to the Cubs, etc.

10. Here's one.

It is good but biased. A scholarly side-by-side bio would be great.

We need to find 3,000 activists and give each one a week of Bush's life to document. Bush probably did a lot of living between his failure to complete guard service and his drunk driving conviction, or between his drunk driving conviction and his insider trade of Harken stock. No one is fishing those waters.

I love it. Just as it is it is fine for an email campaign. People love sharing stuff like this. I think something like this shouls be reworked to come across as less negative, more promoting how much more accomplished and solid Kerry is than Bush, and then used by Kerry's official campaign.

16. Bush was also a dirty trickster campaign strategist working with Atwater
and Rove since the 70s and throughout the 80s. He's really just a political cutthroat but the media won't talk about it.

11. Please read these suggestions.
Thank you, Democrank, for starting this thread. We need to blast back at Bush for this negative campaign shtick -- and it's only a shtick; there's no substance there. By all means write letters to the editor, call in to radio stations and C-SPAN, and talk to your friends and neighbors.

Okay, here goes:

When Kerry was serving in the Senate, Bush was busy drinking too much, running businesses into the ground, and screaming obscenities at Al Hunt.

Then Bush was elected to a rather weak governorship, at which he served a term and a half.

Kerry was investigating Noriega and drug-running while Bush was still fumbling around personally and professionally.

Bush personally became rich, though not through any prowess in business. The personal connections and financial backing did not translate into success for the companies to which he was connected. Even the kindest reading of Bush's resume reveals this.

Also, I've noticed that Bush definitely tries to whip up animosity and derision at Kerry's having served decades in the Senate. Why should we trust Bush when he feels it necessary to make cheap shots at the legislative branch of government? Why does he need hatred from the crowds to score his points?

Kerry works with people. Bush divides them. Heck, Bush SETS them on each other.

Bush can't campaign without playing dirty. He couldn't get a business going without his family connections, and he couldn't get the White House without the same. Now he can't try to win the White House without sinking into negative campaigns.

Let's get the word out.

13. No time to be timid
in our responses to Bush`s smear tactics. If we wanted to simply nod in the affirmative (so as not to appear unpatriotic) we could rely on Democrats like Zell Miller or Joe Lieberman to speak for us. I refuse to do that.

Bush`s charges need to be answered swiftly and surely. Kerry may have to appeal to the "middle" and craft his responses accordingly, but we don`t. I say we start today and respond however we can and whenever we must to any and all of Bush`s smears. Letters to editors, emails and phone calls to media outlets, information to the Kerry campaign.

There is strength in numbers and there is solace in unity. Let`s do it.

Does Bush really want to have that battle of who did what?

While Kerry was writing antiterror legislation and a book on terror funding in 1996, The New War, oilmen cronies of the governor of Texas were schmoozing the Taliban in attempt to bribe them for access to build pipelines in Afghanistan.

Does Bush really want to have that battle?

15. Of course Bush doesn`t want to have that battle.
He probably assumes that we (along with the trained seals at CNN)will just let him take center stage and spin to his heart`s content. Know what? He has picked one too many fights this time.

The pool of people starting to question his assertions is growing by the hour.
