Greens vs Dems? Surely there is a better way
Ok, this is a rant and so you will probably have heard a lot of this. But I'm going to say this anyway...

I am listening to the Nader debates on Flandr's show and and while listening to the pro-Nader guy and I am thinking..surely this guy realizes that NONE of the very things that Greens care about will come about if Bush wins. Repubs don't do things bad for social programs or the environment or the civil rights/liberties becuase they are cowed or bowing to pressure or whatever. They do it becuasae they WANT TOO! They are proud whent hey screw the rest of us. Cons aren't worried if they piss off the progressive vote becuase they never had that vote to lose anyway.

All voting for Nader wil do wil help Bush and hurt both Green sand Dems.

I am thinking about the what happened with the Republicans in a weird sort of way (and perhaps this as good a paralel as I think) When the reform party formed they took the republicans to task for fiscal irresponsibility. well that worked for a while but look at them now... the repubs are hardly interested in anything the Reform party has to say and the reformers are prety much a side note.

MEANWHILE, the religouse right learned how the party system worked and took it over piece by piece. Is anyone going to deny that the social conservatives have a LOT OF POWER in the Republican party?

it would be nice if we had run off voting. it would be nice if we could have viable third parties. But we don't and we never will as long as reformers of any stripe are left as adversaries to the two parties with all the power.

Maybe we should learn from the Cons. They aren't in power by accident.

if we can't beat them, join them and then beat them.
