Did Kerry ever accept Arkansas Senator Mark Pryor's Offer?
I remember that not too long after John Kerry secured the party's nomination, Arkansas senator Mark Pryor, son of former Arkansas senator and governor David Pryor, invited Kerry to come down to Arkansas and go hunting with him. Did this ever happen?

I realize that Kerry's got a busy campaign schedule. But Arkansas is still very much in play, and I think that going on a hunting trip with Pryor and perhaps a few other blue dog Democrats (perhaps they could invite John Breaux along) would generate a lot of good publicity. Besides, from what I hear, Kerry is actually a pretty good shot.

After Labor Day, as that's when dove hunting season is. Now I'm personally no fan of hunting doves, but it's a reallllly big sport here in North Carolina, as well as in Arkansas, from what I understand. Kerry could make the biggest impact around those parts by taking that hunting trip with Mark Pryor during dove season.

B-)

2. Shooting Doves is not such a good metaphor
for the Kerry campaign.
Unless you think that winning Arkansas would make up for losing the anti-war, anti-gun vote.
And I tell you right now if he goes hunting in Arkansas I'm not voting for him.

4. Actually, I think it's a great metaphor
And, to be honest, if you'd vote against John Kerry, who has a very strong record on gun control, simply because he went hunting, then I doubt you ever really intended for vote for him at all.

And with all due respect, people like you are one of the big reasons why the Republican Party has been so successful in attracting support from hunters (many of whom, according to polls, support common sense gun control measures). The fact is, that despite your wishes and the wishes of Republican political operatives, it is possible to be pro-hunter without being anti-gun control.

7. It's not the hunting that bothers me it's the pandering
And if he has a choice of ducks or doves, well its his choice, and my vote.

13. Oh well,
just goes to show that I'm not a hunter...
Still, I should have thought of that.

5. Not A Good Idea
This would not suddenly convince all the hunters and gun-lovers that
Kerry is OK,
but it would drive a lot of anti-hunting people to Nader.

6. He'd be smart to do it:
Edited on Mon Aug-02-04 11:30 AM by mdguss
He'll lose West Virginia and Ohio if average citizens there think he's against guns (and he is not against guns, he SUPPORTS the SECOND AMENDMENT).

Why is it that every time a candidate takes a more moderate position than Democratic activists those activist threaten to bolt for Ralph Nader? I've had enough of this, "Think my way, or I'll go to Nader," garbage.
