He HAS to be on drugs!
I just watched Bush's press conference about the 9/11 recommendations. He talks like a 4th grader giving an oral report without doing his homework. He couldn't put two logical words together stammering about weapons of destruction they still might find in Iraq.I can't believe the press takes him serious! God help us.

1. and he never answered a question directly
he simply read off what he was taught to say.

Not ONE answer.

this was disgusting.

the good news is that he accepts the 9/11 suggestion of hiring a csar, something that Condi has failed at so miserably.

2. It also appears that he already knows what the questions are...
He looks down, calls on a particular person, then looks down again later, at what appears to be a written response to their question--and he still flubbs it!

How I long for a President Kerry!

10. Media has been grabbing its ankles for 3 1/2 years
Same ones who hounded clinton over nothing. If they had any guts they would just refuse to participate in these phony press conferences.

5. Deabtes, anyone?
I reeeeally can't wait until we start to see the Kerry/Bush debates! As soon as the American public sees that Kerry can actually form a complete articulate thought, it's all over for Bush. There's no way that given the two side by side, anyone would be drawn to Bush.

6. I'd say something
but I've been told I'm contributing to the stigma attached to mental illness if we post about it.

7. I've worked with the seriously mentally ill
I've seen people who were immeasurably helped with therapy and medication, and I've also seen those who want to get better and can't. Like any other illness, some forms of mental illness can be alleviated, and some can't.

Those who can't be helped -- or who don't want to be -- shouldn't be playing at being leader of the free <?> world. Suggesting that boosh is one of those who should not be in a position of power does not, I think, constitute stigmatization of the mentally ill.

8. "Bush On The Couch" is a new book about this
At least I think it's new. It's applied psychology, a technique shrinks can (and do) use to analyze world leaders for us from a distance. So I saw the guy who wrote it on (of all things) Topic A with Tina Brown, last night. They had him on with Gail Sheehy and Christopher Hitchens.

The shrink focussed on Bush's childhood, his cold, critical mother and absent father. His alcoholism, fanatical religious conversion and extreme exercise regime are (the shrink and Sheehy say) his attempts to deal with a chaotic mind.

A strength he noted was Bush's ability to work with older, stronger men (also noted by Hitchens). He's aware of his inadequacies, to some extent. However, it was also noted (by Sheehy) that he cannot admit to a mistake because he can never be wrong and the "Bush on the Couch" author backed up that analysis. A tendency towards sadism was noted as well.

Anyway, the whole conversation was fascinating, they talked about all kinds of other stuff. I think I'm going to have to order this book.

11. Unfortunately, that's assuming that Americans
would actually WANT a president who could think.

I'm afraid if that were true we wouldn't be in this mess.

Dimson makes em proud to feel like they have brain stems, by comparison.

12. Good point
It's like the question, "Who would you rather have a beer with, Bush or Kerry?"

I DON'T WANT TO DRINK BEER WITH EITHER OF THEM! I want someone to fix the mess we're in! I'm amazed when people say they like Bush because he "seems like a regular guy." Do we really want a "regular guy" in the White House? I like my neighbor, he's a good fellow, has backyard barbecues and invites us all over. Good time. But I sure don't want him leading the country!
