When Does DU clamp down on the Anti Kerry posters?
I thought the mods were going to do that once we had a nominee. Free speech is fine but I thought this board was to promote Dem and progressive candidates not give a forum for republican or pro Bushies.Am I wrong? Is anti Kerry speech allowed?

2. Seriously...
That made me really mad at the Dems. Convention. We've come to expect that sort of shit from Bush and Co. but to see the Dems setting up free speech zones too...

3. Not THIS again
It wasn't the DNC that set up the zones.

It really wasn't too clear from the news coverage; would you care to enlighten me?

5. I'd think that the DNC knows better than barbed wire and walls at least.

8. The City of Boston decided on security measures
- with input from the Secret Service, amoung others.

Will the RNC be blamed for banishing the NY protesters to a section of highway? Here's hoping.

7. Progressive Only????
Wow! I'm not sure I'm welcome then. I'm pretty moderate. It's true that I'm pro-abortion. (Yup, not just pro-choice.) And I'm in favor of civil unions and Affirmative Action. But in many cases, I'm able to see the other side, and to respect it, even if I disagree. For example, I respect pro-life people who provide active support to pregnant women and their children, helping them find SUCCESSFUL alternatives. I recognize that "marriage" is a loaded word with both legal and religious connotations, and therefore, the issue of gay marriage is trickier than it should be. I also realize that Affirmative Action creates almost as many problems as it attempts to solve.

I can even see potential benefits in vouchers... if they would somehow set them up in ways that EXCLUSIVELY benefit the financially disadvantaged, and additionally, require that they be monitored by USAGE so that all races were equally using them in proportion to their populations. (I've heard that private schools aren't necessarily opening their doors equally to all kids with vouchers.)

AND, I see some benefits to protecting big business, especially whenever it protects AMERICAN jobs.

To be honest, it seems to me that DU finds room for lots of Independents, Libertarians and Green Party members in addition to Democrats. So maybe the name is wrong.

Joe Lieberman, bless his yarmulke, is as right-wing as right gets, but he's still a Democrat. John Edwards told the conventioners that Al-Qaeda can't run and can't hide - We Will Destroy You. Not quite in line with the anti-war part of the party.

We Democrats fall all across the spectrum from right to left. I know we don't always respect each others' opinions... but this wouldn't be a very "DEMOCRATIC" forum if some voices were silenced because the progressive voices want them to be.

Hey now.I asked about Anti Kerry posting on this Board,
not about the free speech zone at the convention. I am not sure about the reasons for that. I don't like the appearance of it, but they may have been forced into it by the security paranoi, which was very intense.I just thought that it had been indicated during the primary that once we had a nominee the bashing of that candidate would not be allowed to continue, and I don't notice that happening.I am curious as to why if that was the stated intent. Personally, I don't see why we have to offer the opposition another platform to bash our nominee when they already have the national media and we are reduced to alternative sources such as DU. But if this is acceptable fine. I just wanted an answer about DU.Not the Party and Not about Boston
