How many people showed up at Kerry's Bowling Green appearance?

Here on DU, a writer estimated the attendance at 17,000. The Findlay Courier, a right-wing rag that would endorse a dead squirrel for president if it was on the ballot as a Republican, said attendance was only around 8,000. The Lima News, another right-wing rag that makes the Findlay Courier look liberal, would only acknowledge that "several thousand Democrats" were in attendance (like that's the only kind of person who would consider seeing Kerry and Edwards). The Toledo Blade, which is more liberal, said attendance was around 15,000.

Is there an official attendance?

Judging from the photo shown on an earlier DU post, there were more than 8,000. This looks like more right-wing bias in our media, only more subtle.

Actually, I'm shocked that the Courier and Lima News would consider covering a (gasp!) Democratic party function of any kind. So, I'll at least give them that much credit.

1. Scranton, PA RALLY

Hello everyone-
My very first post. I attended the Kerry-Edwards rally in Scranton PA on Friday. WOW!! A long, hot, sweaty day---worth every second. The crowd was huge, supportive, and enthusiastic. This was my first ever political rally and one I will never forget. I was a little disappointed with our location, would have liked to have been closer but it seems that everyone else felt the same way. This team seems to draw people to them. We were lucky enough to weasel our way closer to the action after the speeches. Elizabeth and Teresa were feet away and very much involved with the crowd. They were wonderful. The Johns were a little farther away but took the time to sign autos and shake hands. I actually got chills even in the sweltering heat. How anyone can say John Kerry is aloof is beyond me! He was warm, funny, and quite the silver fox!

The crowd was quite a mix of people. One thing that my friend and noticed was a large amount of younger people. They were pumped to be there. That is great sign because this area has a population of about 20% 65+. A lot of vets, a lot of union folks, a lot of people who strongly want Kerry-Edwards to win in Nov.

Huge hand-made signs were posted on the interstate overpass. The campaign must have been thrilled. Estimates of the crowd numbers range from 15,000-20,000. Local news going with the number of 17,000. From some locals who have been around, "numbers like this not seen since Kennedy in the 60's"

Just thought I would pass this info along from my part of the world.

My next step-I believe I will voluntary.

I have been lurking and reading and in most cases agreeing. It's about time to join in. Never was much of a political junkie but as you are aware times have changed. I feel passionate about a campaign for the first time in quite awhile.
