Bad news regarding our Arizona chances
The local NPR news is reporting that it looks more and more like AZ will go to * and that the trips here by * and Cheney are to basically put the state out of reach. Both campaigns cutting their budget for AZ.

This sucks.

1. Can't win 'em all.
At least most of our "hopeless" states don't have many electoral votes.

Think of the "strategery" the Repubs have to do when they sit down and have to scratch off CA, NY, and IL just to get started.

7. I'm with you! We are neighbors to AZ and plan to go work there too!
When it comes to THIS election, leave NO VOTER behind. None of the polls even think about the 50% of the country that does not vote. We pump up to get voters registered and then out-and-voting for K/E. No effort is too small! Believe in the people. Believe in the people. Believe in the people.

3. I don't think I ever really felt AZ was going Dem.
With McCain speaking up for Bush, there's really no chance.

9. Clark finished second in Arizona
with 27 percent of the votes. Edwards had seven. I think Clark would have helped in New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, and Colorado. At this point, I guess he'll go where Kerry sends him.

11. what are they basing this on?
the most recent Arizona poll I saw had Kerry one-point up. I think it will be competitive there.

winnable for a Democrat as long as the election is close nationally and at this moment Kerry is ahead. Remember 1980 - except this time the weak incumbent is a Republican. That election was "too close to call" right up to the eve of the election. Undecideds break against a weak incumbent. That will happen here as well. As long as Bush is barely at or below 50% Kerry has a decent chance of pulling an upset in any state with a strong turnout by Democrats and Kerry Independents and Republicans.

13. The election is still several months away
so I can't understand how anyone, even NPR, could predict the election results there now with assurance.

I hope Democrats don't concede any states during this election!

14. AZ, NV, NM, and CO
are and should remain competitive. I would hate to see the Kerry campaign start pulling back their effort in that region. Clinton won NV twice, AZ and CO once, and NM has gone DEM the last three elections. Gotta keep fighting here.

16. I don't know
sounds like some Rove disinfo. Kerry is cutting spending everywhere right now to save it for the fall.

17. Actually, Kerry is leading there by +1.
With a sizeable "undecided" number.

It was always assumed this would be a red state. It was a surprise that Kerry eeked out ahead there. Kudos to the Kerry/Edwards ticket. This is not one of the battleground states, so this is a nice surprise, if Kerry wins it. And he might.

19. That sounds more like a campaign commercial for Bush than news.

So some flak at NPR has an unsupported, undocumented opinion?

Who gives a fuck? That's not news, either good or bad.
