No More CNN For Me- I'm Watching MSNBC And They Play It Straight...
I have watched CNN since it's inception and decided to give it up after they flogged their flawed Gallup Poll to make Kerry look like a loser....

It doesn't take the proverbial rocket scientist to know that campaigns and media outlets use polls to shape the race.

By portraying Kerry as a loser CNN hopes to discourage his contributors and supporters.....

Any way... MSNBC seems to give fair down the middle coverage to both campaigns....

Let's encourage them to keep up the good work...

3. Tweety Is Conflicted....
CNN is insidious... Most of their commentators are on the left but their news anchors are on the right.....

So you are getting your news with a right wing bias that you don't even notice....

41. Just a shave better than CNN, and even that is sporadic
I wouldnt' get all hepped up over them. It's true that when I watch cable, that's what I watch. But they are by NO means a "good" source. Just a little better than the rest of what's on, and that's not saying much. At all.

2. MSNBC????
The Tweety network? Did you watch their coverage of the DNC? it was only a few shades less worse than CNN. Oddly enough, I thought Fox did a better job than the two of them for actual coverage. But then, I expected spinning Satan graphics from Fox when Kerry came out and that didn't happen so maybe I set the bar too high for Fox.

I'm not watching any of them or the "big three"

I'm relying on the LBN thread here and the GD:2004 rooms for most of my data. As for non-DU sources, I'll be relying on the candidates sites and PR's.

I'll make my own decision (which is for Kerry, but that's not the point), I don't need some network whose beholden to the all might dollar to tell me how I should think and feel about the world around me. I can do all that on my own.

22. What? Not FOX or any other network. Ron Paul???
Fox wants o do nother but talk about "security" and all the Anti-Everything American war opponents vs. Mr Red White and Blue (themselves)and the big "terror threat" "issue" 24/7 .

I advide you to read Ron Pauls LONG writtings on the war and terror.

Tell me one network that quoted Michael Ladeens comment that "religon is impotant for our nation so when the citizen becomes a troop we can expect him to not be afraid to die in our wars " (paraphraised)comment.

Heck, Ron Paul makes a better reporter than most (or all of them). When all the networks treated Clintons and Bush's lead up to wars on the Iraqi people as a coming attraction ("Clash In The Gulf" "Rumble In The Deset" etc.)Ron Paul was out covering all the facts that we are just hurting the people and not Saddam plus reporting on our past dealings not to mention talking about creating terrorists.

8. You MUST select: MSNBC Countdown with Olbermann is a must.
He is the only courageous person who said, on air, that the White house had sent him 3 pages of Talking Points to crush Ambassador Wilson when Wilson appeared on his program.
He has done several things like this. He hates Fox, O'Reilly, and Hannity (this alone makes me love him).
He was the ONLY ONE WHO COVERED BERGER'S being found guilty of taking COPIES of documents and NOTHING criminal and that the commission HAD GOTTEN ALL the original of the documents... and said DeLay WAS NOT APOLOGIZING for calling Berger a burglar...
His program is a mixture of the political and the bizarre... but he is the best at MSNBC.

42. a dead intern was found under his desk
Back in July 2001, in the middle of the summer of Chandra frenzy, a young intern by the name of Lori Klausutis was found dead in the Florida office of Joe Scarborough Initial reports said that there was no signs of trauma to the body. Several weeks later, the autopsy report was finally released:

The official medical examiner, Dr. Michael Berkland, then conducted an extensive autopsy - more than 80 hours - before announcing his findings last week.

Berkland said Klausutis died from a blow to the head, probably caused when she fainted and fell to the floor after an attack of a previously undiagnosed "valvular condition of the heart." Klausutis, an avid runner and member of the Northwest Florida Track Club, had never evinced heart problems before - but such things happen, Berkland said. He also admitted that authorities had previously lied about her fatal wound in order to forestall media inquiries into the case. "The last thing we wanted was 40 questions about a head injury," he told the Northwest Florida Daily News.

Berkland moved to Florida after his medical license was revoked in Missouri following a 1998 case in which he was found to have falsified information in an autopsy report, American Political Journal reported.

It's all quite sketchy. A medical examiner with a recent history of falsifying information on autopsies comes up with a far fetched explanation that even Lori's own family doesn't buy. And isn't it odd that at the same time the "liberal" media was in a frenzy over a Democratic Congressman's possibly connection to a missing intern (at the time), not a peep was made about the Republican Congressman who had a dead intern turn up in his office? It just doesn't add up. It's time for Joe Scarborough to come clean and tell Lori's family what REALLY happened.

21. Reading DU, apparently it was Matthews who was pissed at the
possibility of Donahue overshadowing him. I don't have the links, but if memory serves me right, that was the gist of it. Matthews was the main influence on MSNBC getting rid of Donahue.
Apparently a DUer asked him about Donahue during the DNC convention and he went into convolutions trying to explain it...

48. MSNBC has redeemed itself as of late
Of the three main 'news' channels, they had the best Convention analysis. It wasn't a snippet of a speech, followed by non-stop bashing by RW tools like CNN did.

I've even watched Scarborough a few times lately. He has definitely toned down his act. He is actually trying to play down the middle.

And many here may despise Tweety, but, aside from his obnoxious personality and unresolved sexual issues, he's not that bad.

My theory is that MSNBC, the lowest rated of the three news nets, has decided that it is pointless going after the RW audience like FOX and CNN did, and is trying to steer itself toward the middle. They pandered to the conservatives in the past few years, but are trying to clean up their act. Let's hope so. I wouldn't mind just a plain, unbiased NEWS network. I'll form my own opinions.

I will say this. The way they treated Ashleigh Banfield was appalling.

As for CNN, they are total sellouts now. Lou Dobbs is the best anchor on the network, and he is a known conservative. Still, he reports on stories that his peers might see as bland and unpopular, such as outsourcing and electronic voting. He looks annoyed when coaxed into playing corporate political games, and tries to avoid it. Cooper is not bad - his show is lighter than the rest of the day. He did downplay the CNN/Gallup poll earlier this week, unlike Wolf and the rest of the whores. And Larry King is Larry King. Like him or hate him, his show has not changed, and probably won't anytime soon. Aaron Brown? He's okay. Seems a bit more centrist than the worst offenders, Wolf, Judy and Bill.

FOX is not a news channel. It is blatant propaganda. Just like watching the news reports on the 700 Club.

CNN International is less whorish than the mothership. And NewsWorld International is the most unbiased of them all, but they air too much fluff and their schedule is a mess. Plus, they need to spice up their content a little.

49. Great Analysis
I don't have the discipline since leaving grad school to write more than a bunch of sentences...

MSNBC does a nice job... Their news coverage reminds me of the Christian Science Monitor. They seem to approach the news dispassionately....

Fox unlike CNN deserves their props. They are an unabashed conservative network.

CNN is the worst. While they have liberal commentators like Begala and Carville their anchors have a definite right wing slant...

I will never forgive them for flogging the flawed CNN -Gallup post convention poll....

Those bastards were laughing at Kerry....

I hope Fox continues to eat their lunch... CNN is like the K Mart of cable television .... As K Mart lost their priviliged position to Wal Mart and could never recover CNN lost their privileged position to Fox and could never recover...

CNN is number two in more ways than one...

I hope I have the discipline to never watch it again....
