Just a reminder: Get off your lazy ass and volunteer.
So you're fed up with the administration and blah blah blah. Yeah, everybody is. Or maybe you're disappointed with the setup of Kerry / Edwards. That's fine.

You can do all the bitching you want, and it's perfectly cool with me. Regardless of how hard I grit my teeth when you say something dumb, it's all good. As long as you get off your stupid ass and volunteer instead of sitting in your chair and typing complaints out all day.

Even if you loathe Kerry / Edwards, there are a slew of local candidates who are in desperate need of volunteers to keep their campaigns flowing smoothly, and they'll love you forever if you help them out. The volunteers are what keep campaigns from being drawn-out confusing disasters. You'll make friends, meet candidates and important people from your area, and you'll be able to know that you meaningfully contributed to the process, which you can't do from a blog or the message board.

So if you've got some free time on your hands and want to put up, get off your ass and do something. Call your local or state democratic party and say "Give me the phone number of the Democratic party near me," and then get the hell to work.

-C

5. Agree in principle, but it is hard to get excited in Alabama
I'd love to go door to door for Kerry here, but really, to what end? There is almost no conceivable way for Kerry to win my state. I send money and will do what I can for swing states from afar, but in Bama it would be futile.

Sorry for the pessimism, but after seeing the thousandth "W - The President" sticker on a car today, I am fed up with this hell hole.

Can I help out in Ohio?

6. even if
Kerry can't win your state, there must be a local Dem that can use your help.

9. That's right... organize and volunteer anyway
the more democrats you bring to the polls the more down ticket candidates benefit. Plus you never know how Kerry might do in your state.

8. NW Florida is mostly Republican too, BUT the votes count
towards Florida. We have a Democratic Headquarters here for the first time, and we really need door to door help in Santa Rosa County. Here's an even better deal.

Anyone that want's to come down and help can stay at my Family's home. We have an extra bedroom, breakfast and dinner guaranteed every day and I pass by the Democratic headquarters every morning... I can maybe handle two volunteers at a time. So get in touch with me with a PM if your interested.

Can't beat that for a deal.....

Florida is the true battle-ground state so pitch in and help out we need you.

11. Then don't go door to door for Kerry --
go door to door for the sheriff candidate, or judicial candidates, or county commissioners, or state congressmen.

There's plenty of work to be done that isn't presidential-race.

13. No, wrong way
Just got back from our campaign strategy meeting today. This is how we're doing our soft Republicans. Push the agenda of the local Dems. Then, when you get an opening, throw in how Kerry's plans are exactly what they're looking for. And for heaven's sake, nothing could be more important in Alabama than getting voices for Democrats out on the streets. How many people would vote Dem if they knew their neighbors were too? There is a herd mentality after all.

14. Kicking it!
Volunteering - it's one step higher than voting. And isn't your state and country worth a little bit more of your time especially this year?

15. Deploy against Dick Cheney, campaign for John Kerry
Everyone knows Bush is the dumbest President in US history. Cheney and his wife run the show, and cheney is realllly exposed as a liar and a looter thorugh halliburton. The idea is to recruit the YOUTH to vote, they aren't counted!
