Do the Republicans really demand an oath of loyalty
from attendees of meetings? Jon Stewart mentioned this in his Daily Show. An oath to... reelect the United States of America?

3. Yep
It was a web news story recently. I think some of us Dems should go to a Pub rally and sign loyalty oaths, but with joke names.

"I, Heywood Jablomie support the re-election..." :)

To be serious a second, it's seems like a tactic straight out of 1930's Germany or Stalin's USSR.

9. Sign the oath and then let Bush or Cheney convince you to vote Democrat
Sign the oath and then let Bush or Cheney convince you to vote Democrat.

After all, that is what rallies are for, to change votes!

4. It's in the repubs genetic makeup
to be a drone and require the same drone-like obeisance in others. It's McCarthyism by another name. I'm a prosecutor and I've had fellow DAs question my ability to do my job while holding my political views about the morality of the Administration w/ a suggestion that I should leave.

I clarified that I took an oath to uphold the Constitution, not any person, and that I thought this Administration was working to destroy the Constitution I was sworn to protect. That shut her up, but she's now a dedicated enemy. Oh well!

5. I know Grover Norquist makes freshmen congressmen sign an oath
SWEARING no matter what , they will never, ever vote raise taxes. If they do, they find themselves the target of issue ads and huge smears .

We've seen what happens to the republicans that vote their conscience instaed of party line over the deficits.
