Bush: "We actually misnamed the War On Terror."
"We actually misnamed the War on Terror. It ought to be the Struggle Against Ideological Extremists Who Do Not Believe in Free Societies Who Happen to Use Terror as a Weapon To Try To Shape The Conscience Of The Free World."

Yup - he really said that. - P.

2. In Other Words
A war on the Bush administration?

Why would the Bush administration declare war on itself?

3. Why does he want to declare war on the Republican Party?
"Ideological Extremists Who Do Not Believe in Free Societies Who Happen to Use Terror as a Weapon To Try To Shape The Conscience Of The Free World" - that's the bloody party platform!

12. He's leaving open the option that "terror as a weapon"...
...which people who can actually speak the language call "Terrorism", can be used by those countries and groups we sanction and support. We'd only support those who promote freedom and democracy you know, so it's only fair we give them any weapon they need to win.

14. Honest - it's on www.whitehouse.gov
(not the goof site, but the real thing).

In the search area, just type in the word misnamed.

Here's the link: http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/08/20040806-1.html

Sure as heck didn't make a great soundbite. I can just see him trying to say that double mouthful with all the marbles that have leaked from his brain into his mouth.

16. He actually said this again:
From your link:

"And so one of the most important initiatives of this administration was to challenge the soft bigotry of low expectations. You know what I mean by that. If you lower the bar, guess what happens -- you get lousy results."

Obviously, Georgie was off drinking the day they taught irony at Yale.

"you get lousy results."

Meaning, umm, him?

You lower the bar, Bush trips over it while drunk. Blames it on the pretzels.

15. The War Against Everybody I Don't Like
I am the President, and I get to do anything I like. I don't have to explain, justify or apologize about anything.

Watch it, loser: if your cell phone goes off in my presence, I'll send in Boykin and the Godsquad.

25. The FRIST rule - very subtle dig underpants
Actually there is a whole litany of books that mirror the"...For Dummies" series that simplifies complex tasks for so many smart yet time challenged Americans these days. It is the "... By Dummies" series and it seeks to put simple tasks into even simpler language for all those idiots out there that are incurious and time challenged. The advantage of this series it is written for actual dummies BY dummies. So bush* clearly has read "How to Make Any Simple Idea Into an Even Simpler Acronym That Makes Your Point Come Across More Clearly By Dummies". Or as it's known by those idiots that read it, "A How To Book". Chapter 2 is devoted to K.I.S.S.

Honest to God, I think he's trying to put a happy face on the War on Terror. He's trying to say "See, it's not so scary! WE'RE the good guys, THEY are the bad guys!"

"Really! I'm still a compassionate conservative!"
