You can throw out those blue/red maps from 2004. Why even bring them up? Did you go in a coma after November 2004 and just wake up or something?

Did we not take back Congress in 2006?

Do we not have a DNC working on building the party in ALL 50 STATES NOW??

Did the Dems NOT just win 3 special elections in SAFE Republican districts (including Hasterts seat)?

CAN WE STOP PRETENDING THIS IS 2004 PLEASE?????

We are going to win Virginia, Colorado, Iowa, Missouri, North Carolina. We are going to have nearly 60 Dem Senators. We are going to have over 250 House members.

1. The old style politics of Clinton is why the support her
They still think we can recreate the 90's if only Hillary was the nominee.

4. Old style politics, discussed by the supporter of someone
who came up through the Chicago/Springfield Illinois political system.

And they say that only conservatives have no sense of irony.

:sarcasm:

13. That's a pretty prejudicial statement
Hillary came up through the Republican political system. So what?

2. Because Hillary Clinton is a marginally improved John Kerry.
She's a east-coast, blue-state Senate liberal with high approval among longtime party members, with a terrible speaking style, with a habit for taking politically-expedient stands and then making a hash of explaining them, with a contradictory record on the war, with a record as a right-wing noise machine punching bag, and with a "act just like the Republican nominee, only smarter" strategy. She's John Kerry in a pantsuit.

Therefore, they can only sell her by pretending this is 2004, and that she's just enough better than John Kerry to squeak past George W. Bush again.

5. Kerry is a world better than Clinton

Kerry had a consistent record on Iraq - he said why he gace the authority and than spoke out when Bush abused it - unlike HRC. The RNC and the media tried to confuse on what he proposed going forward - but magically recognized it in 2006 when the ISG proposals were similar. Did you forget that Kerry was the Kerry or Kerry/Feingold? Do you remember where HRC was on that - or even Obama - edwards took a weaker position.

Kerry also had a VERY consistent record on the environment - the best in the Senate per GORE. He, unlike Gore was endorsed by the League of Conservation voters in the primary. The Kerrys' book showed the range they had on that subjet. Bill Clinton has had enormous press on his foundation's green building initiative - though as of now it has done nothing other than get people to pledge money. W@e heard nothing of the decades long work Teresa did on that. Teresa led by example - her office in Pittsburgh was the first green office there and they publicized what was done - even with a discovery show. Teresa is one of the people who was responsible for Pittsburgh being amoung the greenest cities. Kerry, as LT Governor was the one to get the NE governor's conference to start the first cap and trade program for sulfur to slow the ravages of acid rain.

No Republican ever thought Kerry was "like a Republican" and his healthcare plan was certainly not like it, nor his environment and alternative energy plan. Kerry was the only Senator who put his career on the line to fight funding the Contras - who the Clintons and Gore actually wanted to legally fund. He also fought BCCI. Tell me either of those were expedient. Not to mention he endorsed Obama when Obama was down about 37% in his state - knowing the blowback he would get from the Clintons and their supporters. He was the SECOND Senator to do so - Durbin being the first.

I'm glad you're happy with Obama. You might want to consider that John Kerry has been an exceptionally good surrogate for him. So, your favorite didn't win in 2004 - at some point maybe you should look at what Kerry actually has done.

PS as to speaking Obama is excellent on speeches - but I sure hope Kerry is involved in the debate preparation.

6. This ain't your grandma's election anymore!
Those 2000/2004 templates have been rendered obsolete by Obama's kickass campaign. He clearly has some fabulous coattails and puts some 10 red states into play. I smell a realignment of the political landscape that portends large for a Dem landslide in November. :D

8. Starting to feel more like 1972 to me. Had been 1968 and 1988.
One can always hope, but don't get too excited yet that Obama will win in NC. Anything could happen, but it is a really long shot, particularly because Repubs in NC will be motivated also by the races for Senate and Governor.

All it takes to sober up is to quit talking just to each other and to start listening to the voters around us.

14. Of course it's not..
It's like 2004, but we don't need most of those Kerry voters nor those Bush voters. The tooth fairy is going to fly us to victory with a brand new batch of heretofore unidentified independent voters who will happily, eagerly and zealously support both Obama and all the downticket races.

This is the Obama vs McCain map that we should be looking at.

15. The only way it's possible to lose is if Hillary manages to split enough of the Party.
I don't think so though. Republicans are getting wiped out in every election, and the polling trends are all positive. If she keeps this up though, maybe we'll end up with the best of all worlds. If she and her faction do turn traitor, and Obama wins anyway, that's it for the DLC. And good riddance, without them we are a majority Party.
