I need help! ANTI-BUSH debate! Link needed.
Can somebody please give me a link that shows Bush was informed of the hijackers plans to take over an airplane while he was on vacation in August. I need a link bad. These people are so misinformed they think I am making this up. Help a fellow Kerry supporter and DU'er out. Thanks!!!!!!

1. From the Presidential Briefing on August 6, 2001

New York City references:

"A clandestine source said in 1998 that a bin Laden cell in New York was recruiting Muslim-American youth for attacks."

"F.B.I. information since that time indicates patterns of suspicious activity in this country consistent with preparations for hijackings or other types of attacks, including recent surveillance of federal buildings in New York . "

Washington DC reference:

"After U.S. missile strikes on his base in Afghanistan in 1998, bin Laden told followers he wanted to retaliate in Washington .”

Bush's explanation was disingenuous. The report was not merely "historical in nature." It provided information about the current threat. It said,

FBI information since that time <1998> indicates patterns of suspicious activity in this country consistent with preparations for hijackings or other types of attacks, including recent surveillance of federal buildings in New York.

The FBI is conducting approximately 70 full field investigations throughout the US that it considers Bin Ladin-related. CIA and the FBI are investigating a call to our Embassy in the UAE in May saying that a group of Bin Ladin supporters was in the US planning attacks with explosives.

2. Bin Laden Determined to Strike in US 8/06/01
Presidential Daily Briefing Link: http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/04/10/august6.memo/

excerpt:

"We have not been able to corroborate some of the more sensational threat reporting, such as that from a ---- service in 1998 saying that Bin Laden wanted to hijack a U.S. aircraft to gain the release of "Blind Sheikh" Omar Abdel Rahman and other U.S.-held extremists.

Nevertheless, FBI information since that time indicates patterns of suspicious activity in this country consistent with preparations for hijackings or other types of attacks, including recent surveillance of federal buildings in New York."
