Let me tell you how dirty it is in Northern Florida.. I went bonkers !
My Baby sister lives in a small town (very small on the west coast) of Florida. They have always been a democratic county. She has always been an independent and mostly voted dem. She has had so much
to mess with her mind from Mama dying and her daughter (only child) being killed in a car wreck. She has to depend on others to get her a ride back and forth to a little job she is lucky to have. She has no computer and barely getting by but a Fundie is driving her to work.
She was worried this morning when I spoke to her. Because of the following. I hope I straigthened her out because as I said she is emotionally challenged at this time in her life. I have another R-Winged Fundie sister who is pushing this also.

1. Kerry will not help veterans......She bought the Swiftboy thing

2. Said the Gainesville Sun and CNN says that Teresa is a terrorist
or sympathetic to terrorits.

3. Kerry was Catholic and therefore, a person who could take us in the Anti-Christ direction.

4. Teresa Heinz Kerry would push her husband into one world government.

I said, Where are you getting this information? She said, Oh they are all talking about it down here. I said, "Send me the copy of where Teresa Heinz Kerry is a terrorist and I will send it to The Kerry campaign. She said I read it about three weeks ago. I said, Well I shall challenge them on this. But I don't doubt it as what they did to Max Cleland. I told her, Diane, this is propoganda from the wrong side. Don't believe it and I know you only have your friend down there to take you to work but she is a Nut, quit lisening to her and my (other) sister , who I cut off three weeks ago because she is a Fundie who won't even help her own Daddy. I am taking care of Daddy. (Limited income) mine and his. I buy groceries and help with his care and help him with his medicine and all. He has been a very good Father. I have a great husband but now there are four disabled people in this house., and she buys him a can of vienna sausage and praises the Lord on Sunday. My younger sister is confused. I put my Dad, a minister and 81 and a democrat on the phone to straighten her out.
I cannot believe to the tactics these right winged fundies are stooping to ! Daddy did a good job telling her to quit listening to my other sister and leave those fanatics alone. He said, You know better than that. I raised you better than that. Bush is nuts !
My fundie sister will come over here today and I will get into it again with her I am sue. It old her to quit coming if she couldn't help out. Went in one ear and out the other. Daddy loves all his kids but mys siter here is pushing me to the edge. She owns two homes, has three vehicles, and is a bigot. She is a right winged fundie.

1. OMG
If people are willing to believe this tripe there is truly no hope.

One can only hope that logic will prevail.

5. Can you give us an explanation for your belief?
Why do you think that THK is interested in one world government?? We do know that Bush is, but the one world government he wants is headed by an imperialistic America, telling the rest of the world how they ought to live--at the point of a gun if need be.

7. I am a fighter on the left..I don't believe this crap..I am fighting it.
Here is an article that I found after my sister told me this stupid stuff. It is ridiculous. Everyone on here knows I fight this kind of propoganda. I am not a winger. Like I said..I am fighting it and we need to alert the Campaign to let them know how far these repuke fundies are going on the attack. Read this stupid article I just found.

FROM JOSEPH FARAH'S G2 BULLETIN
Kerry's wife supports
U.S. radicals, jihadists
Teresa Heinz lavishes millions on abortionists, defenders of terror, homosexual extremists

If John Kerry becomes president, the first lady will have a track record of support for the causes of radical, anti-American groups – including Islamists, terrorist-defense law firms, abortionists and homosexual activists – that, by comparison, would make much of the country nostalgic for the days of Hillary Clinton, a study of her philanthropy patterns by Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin concludes.

One of heiress Teresa Heinz Kerry's favorite charities is the Tides Foundation, a 28-year-old grant-making institution that funds to the tune of hundreds of millions radical groups that, among other things, protest the U.S. invasion of Iraq, demand open U.S. borders, provide the legal defense of suspected terrorists and promote the spread of Islamist ideology in the U.S.

Teresa Heinz Kerry

Heinz Kerry, worth an estimated three-quarters of a billion dollars, working through the Howard Heinz Endowment, oversaw the donation of more than $4 million to the Tides Foundation between 1995 and 2001, reports G2 Bulletin, a premium, online intelligence newsletter published by WorldNetDaily.

While John Kerry criticizes the way President Bush has conducted the war in Iraq, he actually cast a Senate vote to support it. Yet, Tides' Iraq Peace Fund and Peace Studies Fund supports the War Resisters League and Ramsey Clark's International Action Center. Clark actually offered to defend Saddam Hussein. His center also sponsored International ANSWER and United for Peace and Justice, both of which were run by long-time communist revolutionaries.

The Democratic Justice Fund, created through the efforts of Tides and George Soros, seeks to ease U.S. restrictions on Muslim immigration from countries designated by the State Department as “terrorist nations,” as reported By Ben Johnson in FrontPageMag.com. Tides also supports the Council for American Islamic Relations, a group that bills itself as a “Muslim civil rights group,” but one whose leaders have links to the terrorist group Hamas.

FrontPageMag.com also pointed out: CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad openly stated in 1994, “I am a supporter of the Hamas movement.” Community Affairs Director Bassem K. Khafagi has been arrested for visa and bank fraud. Randall Royer, a communications specialist and civil rights coordinator at CAIR, was arrested along with a group of Islamic radicals in Virginia for allegedly planning jihadist activities. CAIR has defended terrorist fronts posing as “charities” – some of which have beem shut down by the Bush administration.

Tides supports the National Lawyers Guild, which began as a Communist Party front. Last October, reminded FrontPageMag.com, Lynne Stewart, an indicted terrorist NLG lawyer, gave a rousing closing speech at the organization's convention. Stewart was arrested for helping her client, convicted 1993 World Trade Center bombing mastermind Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman, communicate with terrorist cells in Egypt.

As Johnson reported in his FrontPageMag.com article, "Teresa Heinz Kerry: Bag Lady for the Radical Left": "And modern heroes, dare I mention?" she said. "Ho and Mao and Lenin, Fidel and Nelson Mandela and John Brown, Che Guevara, who reminds us, 'At the risk of seeming ridiculous, let me say that the true revolutionary is guided by a great feeling of love.' Our quests like theirs are to shake the very foundations of the continents."

Heinz Kerry not only serves as chairman of the Howard Heinz Endowment, she also sits on the board of the Vira I. Heinz Endowment.

The Earth Island Institute is a recipient of Heinz cash. Three days after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on America by Islamists, the group published a statement on its website rationalizing the terrorist actions. Under the headline, "U.S. Responds to Terrorist Attacks with Self-Righteous Arrogance," the statement explained that the destruction of the World Trade Center, the crash at the Pentagon, the four airline hijackings and the 3,000 Americans killed "was not an 'attack on all American people,'" but "an act of anger, desperation and indignation."

On the record, the Tides Foundation says it has worked since 1976 for "positive social change. We put resources and people together –strengthening community-based nonprofit organizations and the progressive movement through innovative grant-making. We define 'progressive' as creating a positive impact on people's lives in ways that honor and promote human rights, justice, and a healthy, sustainable environment."

For a fee, the group protects the anonymity of donors by directing tax-deductible contributions to specific groups.

One of Tides principal concerns, according to its annual report for 2001-2002 is mobilizing against the death penalty – always a polarizing issue during elections.

"At a particularly conservative time in national politics, the United States seems to be awakening to the economic and racial biases of the criminal justice system," the report said. "Public support for the death penalty is the lowest it has been since 1981, and the anti-death penalty movement is gaining momentum. To support this growing movement, Tides Foundation launched the Death Penalty Mobilization Fund, which supports progressive coalition building and collaboration at the local, regional and national levels among groups working to reform the death penalty and to abolish capital punishment."

Another initiative was to promote groups pushing "living-wage organizing."

"More than 56 local ordinances mandating a living wage have already passed across the country," the report said.

Tides points out the "economic justice movement" has received only limited funding from other foundations.

Local, state and national groups promoting abortion on demand are supported by Tides. They include Planned Parenthood chapters, the National Abortion Rights Action League and Abortion Access Project.

Homosexual activist organizations, including some of the most extreme, such as ACT-UP, have received Tides funds.

In addition to its support of the National Lawyers Guild, Tides supports many branches of the American Civil Liberties Union and the Institute for Policy Studies, founded by Robert Borosage, a political mentor of Hillary Clinton.

In addition to its support of CAIR, Tides supports the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee and the Arab American Action Network.

A group called "Barrio Warriors" is also a recipient of Tides grants. This race-conscious Hispanic organization calls for the "liberation of Aztlan," the American southwest, including California, New Mexico, Arizona and Texas.

Tides supports a variety of gun control groups, controversial needle exchange programs, euthanasia and assisted suicide organizations.

Don't be surprised if some of the tax-deductible donations by Tides results in political endorsements of Heinz Kerry's husband this year. The League of Conservation Voters, the recipient of hundreds of thousands of dollars from Tides, has already endorsed John Kerry for president, despite its non-partisan billing. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and People for the American Way are two other regular recipients of big dollars.

So well-endowed is Tides, last year it gave $8.5 million to the Rockefeller Family Fund.

6. It's pretty scary...............
in some parts of Florida. I've been all over the state and finally moved to New York becuase of the pervasive mentality you describe.

You just have to tune it out. Your Sis might be dependent on the Fundie for a ride to work, but she doesn't have to believe the crap he/she is spewing. Tell her to just play along but not to believe ANYTHING the moron tells her. These people feed on fear and ignorance and you sister sounds far better than that.

I have a brother who's a hopeless right-winger too. We get along, but ONLY because I don't listen to his BS when he starts spewing it. I just start tuning out when he starts turning on. It's the only way to keep peace in the family.

Good luck, don't let it get you do down. Remember, HOPE IS ON THE WAY!

10. Update on My Vietnam Vet Buddy's Myth
Edited on Sat Aug-07-04 11:00 AM by UTUSN
that JK will CUT vets' benefits. I mentioned in an earlier thread that this dude is politically tone deaf, that he said he has never voted, that his daughter gave him internet stuff saying that JK would CUT benefits, that he gives Shrub credit because his VA checks started when Shrub was in power.

I printed out the links in that thread detailing how the Shrub Mal-administration has cut benefits.

He got a laugh out of this:

And he kept his good humor, but said he (still) won't vote, that it was his daughter who will be doing the dirty deed. He agreed to show her the information and to get her to walk through a reading of it, and to tell her that she can't throw it away because "an important vet" sent it personally to her.

12. Gainesville Sun
I've not seen anything outrageous from the Gainesville Sun. I used to be a regular reader and still pop in from time to time and don't think your sister would get an incorrect view of THK from that source. They might have published a columnist/cartoonist that was critical of her, but overall I've always found that paper to be a reasonable source of news.

Indeed, they recently published a local guest columnist who was very critical of Bush:

15. Fundies prey on people who are vulnerable
This is one thing I really despise about these people. They go after people when they are at a low point in their life and try to bring them into their group of nutjobs. All they see is someone trying to be their friend and help them out, they don't see that they are being used.

Internet "Whispering Campaigns" Falsely Accuse Teresa Heinz Kerry

Bogus e-mail messages claim she's given millions to "radical" groups, some linked to terrorists, and located Heinz factories overseas. Both claims are false.

August 4, 2004
Modified: August 4, 2004

Summary

False allegations about Kerry's wife have been circulating for months, but the velocity of the Internet "whispering campaign" picked up substantially with the approach of the Fall campaign.

One false message claims Teresa Heinz Kerry gave $4 million to a foundation that used the funds to support a list of "radical" groups including one with alleged links to Hamas and another that is said to have offered to provide a lawyer for Saddam Hussein. But public records show otherwise. Heinz Kerry's foundation money was directed to projects such as "Sustainable Pittsburgh," which promotes "smart growth" strategies.

Another widely circulated e-mail claims Kerry and his wife "own" dozens of H.J. Heinz Company factories in Europe and Asia. It accuses Kerry of hypocrisy for denouncing offshoring of US jobs while "making millions off that cheap labor."

That's also false: neither of them own Heinz. Public records show Heinz Kerry isn't an officer of the company, isn't on the company's board of directors, and isn't even close to being the largest shareholder. The Heinz Endowments do own Heinz stock -- less than 4% of the company -- but income from that stock goes to charity, not to the Kerrys personally.

Analysis

FactCheck.org has received hundreds of copies of these two e-mails from subscribers who asked us to check out whether there's any truth to them. They have been circulating like a virus, relayed by people who either don't bother to check out whether they are true, or don't care. It's the modern equivalent of the old "whispering campaign" in which false rumors served as political weapons.

He raised her better than to buy into this garbage about JK and his wife. He raised to better than to believe this kind of propoganda but check things out herself. He was really mad that some right wing fundie was preying on her.

To the poster who asked could we get her out of there. We have tried. She just won't leave the gravesites. She also has a job there but it doesn't pay much. We tried all during the funeral to get her back here but I have to admit its not beter here, in Ga.
