Kerry-Edwards Campaign Announces Debate Negotiation Team
WASHINGTON, Aug. 7 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The Kerry-Edwards campaign announced today the members of its presidential debate negotiation team. The team includes elected leaders close to the campaign who have played important roles in John Kerry (news - web sites)'s run for the presidency and individuals experienced in presidential debate negotiation.

The team will be lead by Vernon Jordan and includes: Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano; Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm; Washington businessman and civic leader, Jim Johnson, who recently acted as head of John Kerry's vice presidential search committee and who has been involved with presidential debates since 1976; and Robert Barnett a renowned Washington lawyer who has also served as an active participant in presidential debate negations and preparations since 1976.

The Kerry-Edwards campaign announced on July 15th that it accepted the Commission on Presidential Debates' 2004 debate schedule.

"I'm honored to have such a distinguished and experienced team representing me in debate negotiations," John Kerry said. "These debates offer the American people an important opportunity to evaluate their candidates for President. I look forward to meeting President Bush (news - web sites) head-on to discuss my plans to strengthen the economy, lift up hardworking families and make America stronger at home and more respected in the world."

1. This is the whole ballgame!
In light of events this week and the possibility that Bush is self-destructing, these negotiations will be critical, critical! If I were Bush's team, I'd try to deadlock the negotiations and nix the debates. Kerry needs these debates. The Bush team knows their candidate...I'm betting that they make it almost impossible to agree on a format other than one where Bush has the questions a month in advance, a teleprompter and no rebuttal allowed.
