Report from The Warren Cty.(NJ) Farmers Fair: Lawdy!!!

I just got back from doing my good Democratic Party Member(and Webmaster) thing at the Warren County NJ Farmers Fair. A trip back in time and all in a good way. I was helping man the Warren County Democratic Committee booth at the fair.

There is something I think you should know:

Warren County is the 5th Congressional District and the 23rd Assembly District. Our congressperson in the district is Scott Garrett(R-Cognitive Dissonance and Genetic Throwback) and our Assemblypeople are Connie Myers(R-Thrown Out of Her Repuke Caucus, Really) and Mike Doherty(R-Stop pollution by Everone Pissing in a Slit Trench, really). We are up to our NECKS in repukes out here, freeholders as well. All of them are arrogant pricks with the general worldview of 9-year-olds who don't want to do their chores. "Go Fuck Yourself" is their way of life and they want it to be ours.

First, the Kerry-Edwards stuff was FLYING out of the tent, all week, In fact, today was the slowest day of the fair. Incredible interest in the ticket, real excitement, especially young voters, but the interest did cut across all age groups. Buttons, stickers, yardsigns...You could have enscribed the names on a dog turd and someone would have wanted it. I was NOT ready for this situation. Something moves out there people! Folks were VOCAL, too. Not at all shy! It was like a wild Friday night here, with the lounge bar open and Matcom playing the drink mixer. WHEW!!! I got me a big ol' Po-Liticamal chubbie!!!

Second: D. Anne Wolfe(http://www.wolfe2004congress.com) was there. She is our Democratic candidate in the 5th Congressional District this year. Oh, she is SUCH a good candidate too. Originally from Boston, with all that clued-in strength, fire, grit and intelligence I have come to expect from a Strong Boston Political Woman. And she's a love. She gives me a kiss and a hug every time she sees me. I was not expecting that from a Strong Boston Political Woman. A friendly kick in the knee? Perhaps. ;-)

Thing is, she needs some help. She needs some contributions. She's running this thing on a shoestring. She needs, as Atrios calls it, some "Turkee". We so need someone like Anne in the 5th. She's The Real Deal(D). Garrett, on the other hand, gets money from Club for Growth, since the head of CfG lives in the 5th. There is a real monetary disparity there.

Can some of you guys go to her website and help? Check her out. Check Garrett out. You will see the need. She will be strong in Washington.

It was an exciting and heartening day. I wish you all could have seen it. Something is moving on The Hustings. No shit.

My last vote for clearing out of Jersey was for Rush Holt, in his first run. Needless to say, it was so great to win against an entrenched Repug... Prior to that, I had to endure that guy from Hamilton, Chris.....that well-known Right to life guy....Can't believe I've forgotten his name...can anybody help me?? I guess he's still there...

2. Thanks for the great news!

It's great to get these kind of reports. My husband keeps telling me that Democratic voter turnout will be huge. Too many people are too fed up. I hope so.

I'm getting so hopeful that Kerry will win, that I'm trying to rein in my optimism. I don't know what I would do if he did win. I'd celebrate, though I don't know what I'd do.

That's an interesting question for DUers. If Kerry wins, how will you celebrate?
