We, all former pilots of the Texas Air National Guard, have come forward in response to the vicious and irresponsible smear campaign being conducted by proxies of George Bush against John Kerry.
Instead of making up a bunch of hateful lies questioning someone’s bravery and patriotism, we have only a question: Where was George?
For five months in 1972, George W. Bush blew off his duty to his unit and his country. We looked for him. We were waiting for him to show up. But he never showed up.
Where was George? ----------
Of course it's not real! I dreamed of this while napping a few minutes ago. File it under 'Things We Would See in a Just World.' Meanwhile, here in Up-is-Down World, we get the Swifties, easily the lowest, most disgusting mud ever slung in a modern political campaign, even eclipsing the previous benchmark for craven hypocrisy, the wretched treatment of Max Cleland in 2002. These people make me ill.
It says a lot about John Kerry that he has not responded in kind, ala the fantasy above. I would stoop to it, given half a chance. Props to Kerry's campaign for resisting the obvious.
They DO, however, need to criticize Bush for his dereliction of duty. They also need to point out that this same irresponsible man is behind the campaign of lies trumpeted by the Swifties.
They need to say, loudly and very publicly, that George W. Bush, a man who did not fulfill his guard duties, hides behind crooks and conmen to tell lies about his opponent.
Oops, how did that soapbox get under my feet?
