Take a crack at it. To my knowledge, Michael Moore had no experience when he made Roger and Me, and it ended up making him a small fortune and a star. He's since gone on to make lots more money and galvanize the anti-Bush movement. Not trying to sound too starry-eyed here, but if you've got a good idea, why not take a shot at it?
