Kerry Leads Bush in Exudation of Optimism (Poll)
The Washington Post

Democrat John F. Kerry has new reason to be cheerful. Kerry leads President Bush on the question of who conveys more optimism, according to a new poll.

The Republican incumbent accused Kerry of being pessimistic. That in turn prompted the Democratic challenger to accuse Bush of being pessimistic and to declare at his nomination acceptance speech that "We are the optimists."..

Eighty-three percent of New Yorkers said they don't want the Republican convention in town, according to a survey taken by 5W Public Relations. When a sample of 536 adults was asked whether they were happy that the Republicans are coming to town, even most self-identified Republicans said no. ...

2. Why does America hate America?
Whoever isn't fully behind our optimistic, intelligent, and handsome President, obviously wants the terrorists to win.

7. The pub convention needs to be in NYC
so all the hardcore wingnuts can see how much their clown prince and their appalling policies are despised (apart from that errant nut job Ed Koch - who I NEVER trusted).

4. we are too optimistic about america to settle for Bush
the best kerry did to turn around the pessimistic charge while and being seen as optimistic while also getting his criticism of bush in was to say things like "americans are too optimistic to settle for bush's economy" and similar things. it gets across the optimism while also showing he could do a lot better than bush could and that we deserve a lot better also.

5. The Dems worked hard for that result
It was the result of a well-planned and successful convention.

6. That's some headline
I don't remember the last time "exudation" was used in association with anyone other than an elitist lie-brul. :+

9. Democrats exude.
Republicans excrete.

Actually, exudation is not a terribly positive word. According to dictionary.com, it means "The act or an instance of oozing forth." Then again, oozing positive vibes is a lot better than emanating despair like Bush and Cheney do.

10. (GMTA) I wonder whether it's a subtle dig.
I doubt half of their readers have 'exudation' in their vocabulary. Of those, many will (no doubt) get a negative gut impression - like something that leaks from a boil. I think many of the rest would regard it as 'elitist' and 'pretentious.' (Hell, I get that reaction with far less obscure terms.)
