We are pretty well positioned to take back the whitehouse but I think just as well as we are to do that the GOP is to take at least another seat or 2. Yeah, Obama is very likely to net us 1 in Illinois. And we could pull off a close race from them in AK and OK. But in GA, LA, FL, and SC we are not the favored party. In fact the odds are stacked far against us. What can we do to get democrats more focused on the Senate?

5. Brownback is probably the number 1 most hated GOP senator in the country
not only do most liberals hate him for being a dumb right-winger, 99 percent of Howard Stern fans would like to throttle him.

2. I try to get
people more focused on the senate race by pointing out that bushco would not have been able to do a lot of it's evilness if they had not controlled all the branches of government.

In my state, the electoral votes are unlikely to go blue (although you never know) but we have a very competitive dem running for senate, Erskine Bowles. I am trying to get people with Kerry fever involved in generic GOTV events. Those benefit Kerry, but they also benefit Bowles and all the other dems running for office in my state.

by donating to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.

4. Are they going for coattails?
A certain bipartisan majority often elects in a landslide but splits the vote a lot. It will be more necessary at some point when Kerry has breached the middle, to translate that into a vote for the Party, but that is hard to do. If they are banking only on the great Kerry Dem turnout to swamp the GOP without much local effort it won't be as good.

If Bush can sustain himself he can keep the DNC preoccupied with the WH at some level that will lose advantages for candidates we desperately need who already have been hurt by redistricting and GOP money.

Something newer has to get our candidates into the public eye other than debates, ads etc. People are focused on Bush and Kerry and don't even know the name of the local Dem challenger. Without that kind of knowledge
they don't even get on the same choice level and then habit sets in(incumbent, ads, party loyalty). I might suggest that the GOP does indeed share some blame and accountability for the Bush administration and the offbeat issues they presume the party must back.
