An example of why * is going to lose in a landslide - Voter Conversions
My parents went out to eat with two other couples, some of their best friends. My Dad and the other two men all voted for * in 2000. They fit the old Repub demographic - white men, middle class to upper class but not the Fundy type - more the fiscal conservative, stay out of people's personal lives type.

Last night. Dad "I'm going to vote for Nader because I don't think * has done a good job but I don't like Kerry." more of a protest vote
Chris - "I'm voting for Kerry"
Jim - "I think I'm staying home, I'm not going to vote"

My Mom is taking one of the wives to F9/11 today and the other women who is a moderate Repub (walked out of mass a few years ago when the Priest made a political anti-abortion comment)is voting for the Dem - Dennis Moore for the House because the primary between the wacko Repub candidate and the moderate was so nasty. She didn't say who she will vote for for Prez.

It is looking Good and this is Kansas.

1. The electoral college sucks
Despite what you wrote and Edwards event in Lawrence, states like Kansas mean nothing in this campaign as they lean heavily towards one party.

2. I know but I think it is symptomatic of how people who normally support
Shrub aren't and he didn't even really win the last time and he is even losing those votes.

On Hardball on Friday, David Shuster did a report where he was at the Ohio State Fair. He said he had come across a lot of people who voted for * but now will support Kerry but he couldn't find anyone who voted Gore but will now support *.

It is much worse than Matthew Dowd's memo to * which said that if * got the same % of support from the different groups that he did in 2000, Shrub would lose by 3 million votes.

4. That is an overly simplistic analysis.
While it is true that only one candidate will receive the electoral votes of Kansas, the top of the ticket is only part of it. Didn't you read the part of the commment where the Repub reports voting for the Dem candidate for the house? Plus, things do change -- maybe Kerry will lose Kansas this year but if we begin to win some hearts and minds, perhaps Kansas will be in the Democratic column someday in the future.

3. Must read book for Kansans

Well, really for all Americans.

What's the matter with Kansas? by former Repub conservative turned common sense liberal, Thomas Franks.

5. I think Kansas is more of a swing state
than the repukes are willing to realize.

6. I think you're right. I believe a lot of people
have made up their minds by now. The facts are in, and they are not looking good for BeetleBrain. I also think those "polls" are skewed. The demons behind the wheel know that Americans love a good "cliffhanger" and they will keep everybody in suspense. I really believe that Bush is down in the 20's.

But just to be on the safe side, I'm going to be standing by the Democratic table, smiling and handing out voter registration forms.

JUST IN CASE, BeelzeBush!!

7. I'm a little tired
of folks who blow off people who live in states like Kansas or Alabama and report on encouraging signs there as if it's a big waste of everyone's time.

9. Hear, hear!
If you think it doesn't matter how many Democrats or other Kerry supporters there are in Alabama, Kansas, Utah, or my state, Montana,
you need to watch, listen to, or read this speech again.

8. Yesterday I interacted with two strangers who anti-*. The first was
an affluent, suburban, 60ish white woman who out of the blue urged me to vote to get bush out and to get all of my friends to vote. I assured her that I would be placing calls on election day to remind folks to vote.

The other was a 30ish, bohemian, white woman who also expressed that she can't wait until election day to vote the Chimp out. She came to my home from NY to pick up some furniture. Holland tunnel was closed to outbound traffic so she had go out of her way to get to the Lincoln Tunnel, and could not pick up her friend who was to help her with the furniture. I asked her how long she thought the terra situation would last in NYC. She said until November, 3rd. :D
