Springsteen writes editorial in NYT - Fat Wreck Chords & NOFX

-snip-

Springsteen wrote a New York Times editorial this week about why musicians speak out. He wrote, “A nation's artists and musicians have a particular place in its social and political life. Over the years I've tried to think long and hard about what it means to be American: about the distinctive identity and position we have in the world, and how that position is best carried. I've tried to write songs that speak to our pride and criticize our failures." Read the rest of his editorial at: http://www.nytimes.com/2004/08/05/opinion/05bruce.html

Don’t worry Bruce, Fat Wreck Chords is putting out a second full length CD/DVD set of criticisms of Dubya on Tuesday, August 10th! Order your copy today at www.fatwreck.com

Watch NOFX on "LATE NIGHT" with CONAN marking the release on Tuesday with their television debut! Tune in to see how they play on TV- should be interesting to say the least.

3. Bruce Springsteen's interview with Ted Koppel is at MoveLeft.com
Springsteen is famous for rock songs such as "Born to Run," "Born in the USA," and "My Hometown."

Explaining his plan to go on tour to support John Kerry, Springsteen told Koppel that George W. Bush has "eroded trust in a large segment of American voters and...we need somebody else in there to try and regain some of our stature internationally. I think we need a new face."

When Ted Koppel questioned whether it's appropriate for celebrities to be involved in politics, Springsteen replied that businessmen aren't told to stay out of politics, so artists shouldn't be told that, either.

5. Will anyone walk out of the Boss's concert?
The Boss should play at one of the casinos near the place that Linda Ronstadt got booed and tossed. and shove it up their ass.

6. That Linda Ronsadt story turned out to be hype.
She didn't even know there was an issue until after she had left the hotel.

To the extent that some people were upset, it's because they were expecting to hear her Greatest Hits and didn't, not because she dedidcated a song to Michael Moore.
