Dissin' the I-Man
Edited on Mon Aug-09-04 07:55 AM by The Hair in my Nose
The Kerry-Edwards campaign train went through the I-Mus Ranch in Ribero, NM and did not stop.

I-Man has slammed Kerry all morning for the dissing. Ticking off Imus is not smart politics!

2. So in order to be elected he has to go begging to Imus? First I
don't understand why people watch Imus. His whole show is icky... I tried one morning and my breakfast started going sour.
If he wanted Kerry to stop, he should have invited him, not the opposite.

4. Kerry & Imus
Edited on Mon Aug-09-04 08:01 AM by The Hair in my Nose
Kerry has been on Imus' show many, many times and Imus has been hammering Bush quite effectively for weeks.

The train actually went through the middle of the Imus Ranch (four miles worth). How did their campaign overlook that!???

Not good planning.

5. Maybe Kerry picked up on Imus's half-hearted endorsement?
The way Imus was pushing the negative Gallop poll at the exclusion of the other two positive polls that morning after the Democratic convention, I'd say it was obvious that Imus was talking through both sides of his mouth. I don't think he's a real Kerry supporter. I just think he wants to make sure he doesn't lose his audience. assuming that audience is already turning in favor of Kerry. As long as they're still listening, he can give Kerry negative jabs until the trend changes back.

There was no plan to stop or contact according to I-man..

31. I was there at 9:30 pm, on I-25, coming back from Las Vegas rally...
I was pretty much exactly halfway home to Santa Fe at 9:30, which is where Ribera is (a mile or so south of Exit 323) and I can tell you, I had to pull off the road just past the exit because it was raining so hard. It wasn't just lightning, it was pouring and I was afraid it would hail and damage my car, but it was just huge drops.

So, yeah, there was a storm at that time and place, if it makes any diff.

Edited on Mon Aug-09-04 08:39 AM by CatWoman
I don't appreciate the way he and his crew ridicule Elizabeth Edwards about her weight.

One of them made a comment about her getting off the train so that she could go "grazing".

I've caught them doing that several times.

It pisses me off.

Leave the fucking woman alone.

And sometimes I really wonder if Imus is in Kerry's corner. He makes a lot of negative statements about Kerry as well.

He should just give him sh*t and take the same back from Imus. If Kerry HAD stopped and Imus didn't want him to, can you imagine what Imus would have said for hours afterward?

Imus' show is wall-to-wall Repugs. who know better than to bite the hand that feeds them. Imus, like Stern, makes exceptions if he personally likes a Democrat in question. I agree Kerry ought to stay on his good side if he can do it without compromising principles.

29. Imus is irrelevant
Sure, he has a show that's on MSNBC once in a while, but how many people actually watch it?

I'm sure Kerry/Edwards are on a pretty tight schedule, and can't stop for every little thing. Imus should realize this.

Stern is a strong supporter of Kerry. Okay, he's a strong supporter of getting Bush out of the White House. But he said he'd work hard for Kerry, and if an appearance with Stern would hurt Kerry, he wouldn't let him on his show.

Keep in mind, Stern has way more listeners than Imus. And Imus is buried on some pretty terrible signals. Some of these stations make Air America's network look good. Imus is a nobody.

36. His bigger audience
is the radio audience. Many people write him off because they think he's only MSNBC. I watch him daily, he's easier to stomach than the other morning shows and often has good interviews. I'm surprised Kerry didn't stop. He and Theresa have donated money to the Imus Ranch. I knew they were going by and wondered if there would be some effort to connect with the kids. A missed opportunity.

Have you seen some of his affiliates? Many of them are third-tier stations that can't get Rush or Hannity, so they settle for Imus, Liddy, Greaseman or Savage.

Imus is not known for shaking up radio ratings. He's living on a 30 year old reputation.

51. interviews? I catch the show on MSNBC occasionally and it always seems

to be NBC talking head types (Russert, Matthews etc. plugging their shows), Bo Dietl talking about nothing, or some fake charity drive to get a new piano for the ranch... Seriously, does he do interviews? I'm pretty sure he's not on the radio around here, and I am totally baffled that the show has any following at all.

50. You obviously don't know a whole lot about Politics if
you think that a wrinkled up former (maybe) drug addict with a radio show can sway this election.

Don Imus's "support" for Kerry is nothing more than fodder for his lame radio show. 99% of his listeners are RW anyway. His "crew" are biggots and Charles is a born again fundie. That dickhead Bo is a racist and none of them have ANY talent. Don Imus is PROOF that you don't have to have an OUNCE of intelligence to spew bullshit on the airwaves and every intelligent human being (if there are any more of those out there) knows it.

Imus is no more supporting Kerry than I am John Ashcroft and for you to even CARE makes me question things.

BTW, welcome to DU :eyes:
