Keyes fires up GOP faithful..."the victory is for God"
Keyes fires up GOP faithful

August 9, 2004

BY MAUREEN O'DONNELL AND SCOTT FORNEK Staff Reporters

Alan Keyes strode onto the Illinois stage Sunday and began one of the speeches of a lifetime with two little words: "Thank you."

"Thank YOU!" the crowd roared with gratitude at finally having a GOP candidate for U.S. Senate.

Keyes, a Maryland resident, doesn't even have a home here yet, but he boomed dramatically: "I have confidence because the victory is for God."

With the fire of a general ordering his troops into the valley of death, Keyes promised "a battle like this nation has never seen," and an ongoing debate unequalled since Lincoln vs. Douglas.

Keyes stirred the crowd of party faithful, anti-abortion activists and homeschoolers with a speech that started with media-bashing and hit strong on the issues where he considers Democratic challenger Barack Obama vulnerable: gun rights and abortion. --- http://www.suntimes.com/output/news/cst-nws-sen09.html

sweating like crazy and spouting absolute crap... I cannot believe the republicans there were applauding and had happy faces listening to this clown.

Keyes sounds like some folks we know: Osama and Ex-judge Roy Moore.

These people woul dbe huge leaders if they joined the Taliban.

6. Watch, just about every person who will vote for Keyes
showed up at his announcement "rally".

Edgar and Thompson are both PISSED OFF and probably will not endorse Keyes. There are even rumors that Edgar MIGHT endorse Obama.

If that happens, Keyes will be a distant third this year.

Keyes stands for everything that Osama Bin Laden stands for...lets elect Osama to the Senate. Gun rights and abortion. Anyone see the irony in this?

9. somebody send him to Afghanistan
I think religious oligarchies are great and people who want them should go live in them -- somewhere far far away from America.

He is a nutjob -- and a fucking racist and a bigot; oh, I mean, a typical Republican. The only way he can get any following whatever will be to incite hatred and fear. He hates gays, and he hates liberals, so expect him to point out the "evils" of society as part of his powermad grab for glory.

I just hope that Obama's "hope" trumps Keyes' "hate".

10. Who's Dumb & Dumber?
I can't figure out who is the bigger idiot/idiots. I mean...he acts like he thinks he's got a snowball's chance in hell of winning?

Is that like delusional or what?

I've got a friend in Chicago and she couldn't stop laughing over it.

The rebugs are really dredging the bottom of the barrel, you know.

I can't think of which is more pathetic...

Keyes' thinking: I gotta let everyone think I know I'll win. If I do, then if they think I can win, they'll all vote for me....I'm gonna get my ass kicked ;(

The audience/potential voters: You schmuck. Let's let him think we believe he'll win. I hope nobody sees me here :scared:

14. Keyes' Heresy
A nun once defined heresy as using the name of God for evil purposes.
Alan Keyes is just as much a heretic as George Bush is. They each use the name of God for their own greedy, evil purposes! The sad thing is that there are people stupid enough to buy their ungodly stances.x(

21. Pray not that God is on our side, but that we are on His.
I think that was the single best line from Kerry's speech, quoting Abraham Lincoln - it is not our place to claim God's consent. Mr. Keyes must have skipped the humble part of being a Christian.

23. I almost want to give Keyes money for his campaign
He's a perfect example of the Theocratic Homophobic Neocons that really are pulling the strings for the GOP. They need to be exposed.

The upcoming convention will be presented as a roomful of moderates. That tells you that they know they suck and need to hide their theocratic agenda behind the curtains.

28. He was a great choice!
Now our guy will win by 70% of the vote instead of 60%. Keyes probably will not do as well as the kinky sex guy would have.

This guy is barely coherent when he gets going! I can hardly wait for a debate or two--they should put them on pay for view--because people would be willing to see this guy get creamed.

33. The "kinky sex guy",
aka Jack Ryan, probably would have run Obama a heck of a lot closer than Keyes will. Ryan was a moderate, not some true-believer wingnut.

What we need to get out of this is not just Obama in the Senate, but a few extra Democrats in the House.

31. THIS ROCKS!
Here's the deal:
Keyes WILL get attention this election season. He will, to some extent, be seen as a representation of the Republican Party. And if he continues getting this high level of media attention, he will turn-off swing voters across the country.

I'd propose that we contact him and encourage him along this current line of craziness..
