Please help progressives in Colorado defeat Marilyn Musgrave, who authored
the infamous Federal Marriage Amendment and is otherwise 100% lockstep with
the religious right agenda. She's an aggressive opponent of gun control
laws, once chiding the NRA for "being too quick to compromise." She
authored HR2672, which seeks to abolish Davis-Bacon protections for
workers and cut the wages of both union and non-union construction
workers. She champions faith-based home schooling at the expense of
the public school system. She's in the forefront of every wrongheaded
social cause the right-wing looneys care to dream up. She spoke last
year at Falwell's Lynchburg church and received a standing ovation.
Here in Colorado House District 4, Musgrave is in a rematch with Stan
Matsunaka, whom she defeated in 2002 by about 10 percentage points. At
this point, as his campaign revs up, they are in a dead heat.
But Musgrave attracts contributions from the far right and has raised
over a million dollars in three months with her appeals to homophobics,
anti-choicers, and gun-huggers. Stan, though well-known in Colorado,
will have a hard time keeping up with Musgrave financially. I have
contributed to candidates in other states via moveon.org's selection of
nominated candidates. Stan Matsunaka *is* one of the "dailykos 8" (see
www.dailykos.com), and I suspect there must be many DUers who would love
to contribute something toward the defeat of Marilyn Musgrave.
Stan's a solid liberal Democrat, strong on public education and the
protection of the environment, a champion of women's rights (three
times NARAL-endorsed), a defender of civil rights in all areas, and
an advocate of accessible and affordable health care, support for
agricultural and rural communities, and a sensible foreign policy.

undo the damage Chimpy McSmirkster has done.
Coloradoans have a superb opportunity to win back the Senate seat that
Ben Nighthorse Campbell stole from us when he switched parties--Ken
Salazar will surely be swept up in the Kerry victory to come, and he
will do all American's proud in the US Senate. But what a plum it
would be to toss this terrible embarrassment of a representative, this
Mus-Disgrace, out of the House as well. Please help us do it! Say no
to hatred! Defeat Marilyn Musgrave!
