GOP & Media Don't Expect A President To Act IMMEDIATELY During A Crisis
Edited on Mon Aug-09-04 10:43 AM by cryingshame
A reporter asks Kerry about Junior's sitting for 7 minutes reading a book to children after learning the second tower was hit on 9/11.

Kerry says he wouldn't have sat there.

Both the Media and the GOP are faulting him for this.

The GOP & the Media are apparently willing to lower the bar THAT LOW for our President.

According the them... our President can remain INACTIVE during a National Crisis.

As they spin to protect Junior... they are basically saying that our Nation's leaders can be incompetent.

2. this is much more than 7 minutes.....this is the ability to act in

4. Can you imagine the outrage if emergency responders sat reading 7 minutes?
There would be rioting and all sorts of domestic disturbances. There is no excuse for that "man" to have sat in that room , reading a stupid book. He should have gotten up and excused himself gallantly and used the remaining 6 1/2 minutes responding to the situation like a president. Well, he isn't really presdient, but is that an excuse?

5. The bar is only lowered for a repuke.
If a Dem sat in that classroom looking like a dumbass, Americans would have known about it that day - because the clip would have been shown thousands of times - juxtaposed with pictures of the towers falling. By the end of the week he'd have been forced to resign.

As it was the mainstream press didn't even mention it until after Michael Moore used the footage first.

True, the chimp gives new meaning to the word "incompetent," but the media lets him get away with it.

6. There's an unspoken understanding that Bush is not in charge.
Edited on Mon Aug-09-04 10:52 AM by Cat Atomic
Even his supporters were saying he'd be alright in the Presidency because he was surrounding himself with competent people. They were admitting to his obvious incompetence.

So yeah, the bar is lowered considerably for Bush Jr. and he can get away with sitting on his ass while the country is under attack, just as Reagan could get away with saying he didn't know about Iran/Contra. The media doesn't expect much from a figurehead.

Regular people, on the other hand, are quite shocked at Bush's lack of action. They weren't in on this "figurehead" thing, and Bush's 7 minutes is their first chance to see it.

8. Agreed, Except It Can NOT Be Just Republicans Or Junior
it is inexcusable to say this is acceptable for only ONE PARTY or even ONE POLITCIAN (Junior).

This just simply doesn't work.

And Democrats (perhaps not Kerry) should be saying this.

9. They have a point. Look at what he does when he does act?!
He invades a country that had nothing to do with 911.
