Rasmussen State Polls: Ohio Kerry 46% Bush 45% plus Maine, Washington
In Ohio, Rasmussen has Kerry slightly ahead 46-45 in their latest poll. In Maine, Kerry is up 48-44 and in Washington State 50-44.

2. Rasmussen Sucks.....
I wouldn't believe him if he had Kerry twenty points ahead or ten points behind....

I wouldn't be suprised if he makes the numbers up....

4. Actually I take some comfort in his numbers
you are right he is considered a GOP pollster, which is why I'm encouraged by these numbers.

5. He Was Off By Nine Points In 00
I'm not going to be a hypocrite and lend credibility to a pollster when he has good news and criticize his methodology when he has bad news....

8. that's fine

and I agree with that. I look at every poll and post his results no matter what. I guess if you want you can just skip threads which mention his poll?

I do agree that some people are euphoric when his poll gives Kerry good numbers and then blast it when they don't. But then that goes for any poll that does that with a partisan crowd like ours.

11. I think any poll which has Kerry behind will be suspect on a partisan site
For instance for weeks people have been posting results of Rasmussen polls when Kerry was 3 or 4 points up, now today they have a poll where Bush is up by 1 point and all hell breaks lose. It has to be a scam! I don't necessarily know what pollster is correct and you are right, Rasmussen was wildly off in 2000. They say they have corrected it. As I see it there numbers really aren't much different than many other pollsters where Kerry is 3 or 4 points up. Since Rasmussen is a daily tracking poll you will see more variations.

12. How Did He Correct The Problem?
The reason he can do daily tracking polls is because he doesn't have to pay callers....

He uses a machine....

How does the machine know if it's talking to an adult or a child?

13. I don't know
Edited on Mon Aug-09-04 03:22 PM by WI_DEM
I heard him say that in an interview. Look, I'm sorry I posted his poll if its going to cause some people to go ballistic. Maybe you should ask DU to have their members not post what could be suspect polls--regardless of how the numbers are. That should eliminate lots of posts--we can be rid of Gallup as well and a few others. Maybe we should just go by what Zogby says, but then I remember during the primaries people posting how Zogby was so wrong in the 2002 elections and in regards to the NH primary this year. Who can we trust? maybe no pollsters at all?

I'm not busting your chops just Rasmussen's

Did you ever check out his site during Election 00.... After his prediction debacle he got reamed by dozens of posters in his comments section...... Also, alot of Freepers went there for comfort and they were also shocked by the discrepancy between his poll and the actual results.....

15. Oh I know
as I said he was wildly wrong in 2000 when it was Potrait of America, and I got hooked on that one too--but I knew when his final poll showed Bush ahead by 8 and Zogby and other pollsters had it much closer--something was very wrong.

I had going back and forth with you anyway.

16. Did You Read The Comments He Got From People After The Debacle
That has to be why he changed the name of the poll....

I don't think you can get over the fact that a machine is doing the questioning...

17. I don't trust
anything Rasmussen says. If you discount his polls when it has a bad result, you must discount it when he has a good result. His methodology is awful.
