CNN asked JK to answer Bush's question if he would still vote for IWR...
Kerry said that yes he would and that he voted for the Iraq resolution to give the president the needed authority to disarm Saddam Hussein and that Bush failed to use that authority wisely. (Will post transcript for exact wording when available)

Kerry then turned it around on the questioner and said I would like to ask the President why he "rushed to war."

Candy Crowley said, rather unconvincingly, they would try to ask the question to President Bush.

1. "They would try to ask the question to President Bush"............
a reporter can't get within 50 yards of Bush. He doesn't answer questions and he doesn't do "nuance".

Is it my imagination or is Crowley gaining even more weight?
She is dangerously overweight.

4. Well, in fairness, Bush HAS been asked that question
And he's said he'd do the exactly same thing knowing what he knows now about WMD's (or the lack thereof).

The fact is, Kerry will never admit that he made a mistake voting for the IWR, because doing so will likely cost him votes. His vote doesn't appear to have cost him support among anti-war Democrats, so why risk alienating moderate Dems and independents who believe that while removing Hussein was a good thing, the administration has badly mismanaged both the war itself (by not sending in enough troops) and the rebuilding (by not moving early enough to secure UN involvement).

6. Bush has not answered why he yanked out inspectors and "rushed to war"
No one in our feckless, cowardly media has had the balls to ask the "emperor with no clothes" this question.

7. Lack of body armor proves we weren't ready- yes, he rushed it.
We and all of our (usual) allies weren't ready in a number of ways.
The fact Bush didn't have most of the world lined up behind us is the biggest clue.

5. Why is Shrub never held accountable
for anything?

This guy has breezed through life, & is STILL NOT accountable, unlike other folks.

8. CNN transcript, as promised.
CROWLEY: We're going to try again now. John Kerry out looking at the Grand Canyon today, stopped by reporters. Among the questions asked, "If you knew then what you know now, would you still have voted for the Iraq war resolution?"

Here, we believe, is his answer.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

KERRY: I'd challenge the president back. But I'm ready for any challenge and I'll answer directly.

Yes, I would have voted for the authority. I believe it's the right authority for a president to have. But I would have used that authority as I have said throughout this campaign, effectively. I would have done this very differently from the way President Bush has.

And my question to President Bush is why did he rush to war without a plan to win the peace?

(END VIDEO CLIP)

CROWLEY: So we will present that question to President Bush no doubt as he takes off for a week of campaigning.
