In brief, Edgar has no comment and LaHood (shockingly) had something positive to say. Dillard, further attempting to remove himself from consideration from the '06 state ticket, did make one decent point:

"Every Keyes zealot that waltzes into my political office better leave with a George Bush and a county coroner yard sign," Dillard said. "I can't afford to not harness the power of Keyes, when there are drawbacks to Ambassador Keyes."

How much more entertainment can these guys provide for us through the elections?

And what great opportunities this is opening up right under Denny Hastert's nose. Keyes is a godsend....

1. Keyes scares me

Whackjob Keyes and his biblebeater supporters will stop at nothing to go after Obama in any and every way they can. Don't forget, Keyes is for God and if you are not for Keyes, you must be a satanist. I was on the Keyes website and these people are TRULY SCARY. Obama, I hope, is taking this guy very seriously. I monitor the IL Leader website and those extremists were going to be checking Obama's record on voting. I just know they are going to show up with pictures of fetuses and Obama with "Babykiller" all over the place. Heck, this crap already started Sunday and Monday.

Obama can't sit back on his high ratings and think Keyes will blow himself out of the water. The right wing extremists are very organized. One of the people on the IL Leader site mentioned that Keyes is against contraception information and contraception use. I think this kind of info has to be used by the Obama campaign to show the citizens of IL what a total crazy jerk Keyes is. I kept a copy of that email if you want to see it. It regards a CT decision.

I keep thinking of what happened to Max Cleland and how he was called "unpatriotic" by a draft dodger opponent. We all know the draft dodger Republican won.

2. Keyes is down 39%

Sitting at 28% with Obama at 67%.

That was before he opened his mouth.

Keyes won't get 20% on November 2nd. He only got 29% against Mikulski in '96, and that was in Maryland where they know him best!

6. Obama Has To Stay High Rode But Pay Attention...

Yes, Obama can't play it safe, but musn't let Keyes get any traction on any issue. A tricky game but one Obama should be able to play by just contrasting his positive style with Keyes negative.

The Conservatives might be organized, but if they really had it together they would have had a candidate up and running a long time ago. This isn't their candidate and paper it over all they want, they have no control on what Keyes says or does either. He could easily further damage the party in the state in an effort to score national points.

Yes, they could pull a Cleland here, but fortunately this isn't Georgia and it'd take almost Mel Reynold's type abuses to tarnish Obama.

There's a man here in Illinois who can take Keyes on, and I think he's chomping at the bits to do it...Jesse Jackson. I hope the DNC let's him bitch slap this hypocrite for all he's worth.
