2. Probably more like POPPY picked porter for the CIA post.
O8) and didn't the announcement come just after Poppy and Jenna and some of the others had a wonderful crying time at George P's wedding?

Poppy's hands have got to be on the Porter selection somewhere.

4. Hope they ask him where he was on Sept. 11.

"Why, I was in a meeting with Gen. Mahmoud Ahmad of Pakistan, the man who authorized a wire payment of $100,000 to Mohammed Atta. Why do you ask?"

To be fair, Sen. Bob Graham was also present at that meeting. I just want to know what was discussed, and how Ahmad reacted when he got the news of the attack.

Should his presence at that meeting disqualify him? I'd like to think so.

5. It's not a lifetime tenure position.
And Goss is going to be confirmed. If he doesn't perform well, Kerry can fire him once he's the boss.

6. If Kerry wins, consider it a temporary position for Goss. . .
because sure as shit he will be replaced come end of January 2005.

And if all this means Goss gives up his Congressional seat, so much the sweeter.

a fine job in watering down the scope of the bi-patisan senate/house committee on 9/11.

Goss probably had a hand in helping Poppy funnel cocaine into minority neighborhoods during his CIA stint.

10. porter goss is a political hack from Florida ...
look around for some of his partisan quotes on du.

Rep Bob Menendez made the case against goss this morning on c-span..saying among other things the head of the CIA should not be partisan.

11. Porter Goss is my Congressman!
I live in Fort Myers, Florida, his district. He is so popular here that the Democrats did not even run a candidate against him in 2002. Consequently he was the only Republican that I voted for in 2002. Let me be clear: I am as fed up with the Republicans and their tax cuts for the rich, cutting programs for the needy, and Bush' war in Iraq as any of you. But every once in awhile a Republican comes along whom I can support, such as John McCain.
As it happens, Goss is retiring from Congress this year, and he is not up for re-election. Therefore I will be supporting the Democrat who is running for this open seat.

Goss is highly regarded in Congress by Democrats and Republicans, and our two Democratic senators, Graham and Nelson, have announced that they will be voting to confirm Goss as the new Director of Cental Intelligence. So I suggest that you consider his high qualifications for the post, and not simply assume that because he is a Republican, he is not acceptable. Once the political posturing is over, I predict that Goss will be easily confirmed by the Senate.

12. Too bad those rose colored glasses blurred your vision of Goss sheilding
Bush from pre 9/11 blame during the house/senate bi-partisan hearings a while back.

15. Goss Is A Highly Partisan Republican Who Has Criticized Kerry.....
I wouldn't vote for him if he was running against Pee Wee Herman and I would nominate him for dog catcher....
