would you
first disregard the fact that we have a bofoon pres.

if the inspectors did their job and saddam did have wmds, even tho we found out he didnt, hypothetically, if they were able to launch, even tho thats also been disproven

in other words, would you support a un sanctioned invasion of a nation that really was an imminent threat to us

i think north korea really has to be dealt with

they're the biggest national security threat

they have weapons and missle capable of reaching the us, and thats a fact

3. That's a tough one
There would have to be some pretty strong evidence that was collected by many other groups besides our guys.

If I felt that our country was TRULY in danger, then I'd still be reluctant to strike first. It's like executing a person because he/she might commit murder tomorrow. It still doesn't sit right with me.

By the way, welcome to DU! Glad to have you here.

5. If they attacked, sure
If we are attacked, it's time for the whoop ass. It's the pre-emptive thing that I have a problem with.

The thing is to be so strong and resolute that nobody messes with you. The US has to be able to stare down the thugs of the world without getting into the violence. We used to be able to do that - just our presence in the world was that of a country that was kind but wouldn't take any shit.

Now, sadly, we look like bullies.

6. I also have a problem with pre emptive
attacks. Also, if we had found WMD's then we wouldn't it make more sense to remove them, dismantle them, whatever? What sense would it have made to say "ok we found WMD's so now we will launch an attack?" I mean, if we had found them and they had the WMD's but no plan to use them as of yet? The only way I would agree to a pre emptive attack is if we intercepted messages or found out of a plan that they intended to attack us imminently.

7. Exactly!
Drag out the weapons and dismantle them.

If you catch your child with a match, you take it away and punish the child appropriately. You don't bomb the kid to smithereens.
