HOW Stupid Are Some People!! (RE: Laura Bush v. Teresa)
Edited on Wed Aug-11-04 01:30 AM by liberalpragmatist
Personally, I don't feel like criticizing Laura Bush. She's allowed to think and act how she wants - that doesn't bother me. What drives me crazy though are wingnut fundie *supporters* of Laura Bush who hate "liberated women"...Especially when these supporters *ARE* women!

Check out these quotes from the Washington Post:

"I prefer Laura to someone who can say 'shove it' in five different languages," says Patricia Ott, of Southampton, Pa. She is holding a homemade "Laura Is a Lady" sign Monday outside the Sheraton in Langhorne, Pa., where Mrs. Bush just accepted the endorsement of the Pennsylvania Medical Society's political action committee on behalf of her husband.

<snip>

"Telling someone to shove it in public is inappropriate in my view," says Helene Hartman, of Yardley, Pa. She supports Laura Bush because she supports her husband and, more than that, she "brings a level of dignity and composure to the role of first lady."

<snip>

"I thought Mrs. Kerry talked mainly about herself and not her husband and I didn't like that," says Alison Rasmus of Heinz Kerry's speech at the Democratic convention last month.

From: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A54972-2004Aug10_2.html

(Page 2 of an article about Laura Bush's public appearances and the crowds that greet her.)

ON EDIT: Not that I care if others want to criticize Laura Bush - go right ahead. I was just saying that personally I just don't really care for her one way or the other and am not particularly threatened by her. But that's just me.

1. Laura Bush
is now fit for any and all criticism she gets.

Once she criticizes Kerry and Edwards and enters the political fray herself and starts campaigning -- ALL GLOVES ARE OFF!

I think she's a vapid, unintilligent Stepford wife. Listening to her talk is like fingernails across a chalkboard.

2. Oh, I don't care if others criticize her
I'm just stating that I personally refrain from it because she doesn't bother me.

3. Teresa Would Kick Laura's Ass or
She might be able to break the right wingie brainwashing which has held her prisoner all these years.

Hmmmm

Naw, don't think so. Besides, it'd be more fun to see Teresa give her a few Taebo lessons.

Cyn:)

4. holy virgin mary syndrome
You know the types. Women are saints or sluts, they can't handle their own sexuality so they stuff themselves into the holy virgin mary role. Blech. Can't stand women like that.

5. Isn't Laura Bush pro-choice?
Of course, a Stepford wife like her can't challenge her husband on issues like this.

If she can't challenge her husband, why is she even talking? She's completely irrelevant to the election.

6. 21st century
We may be in the 21st century but strong, thoughtful women like Mrs. Kerry still threatens both men and women alike in the U.S.A.

7. And the accent...
...It's a very sad thing to note, but many people have said that her accent is a bad thing :(
I used to not give Laura much thought- she stayed out of politics and I felt any bashing towards her would've been unneeded.
But now, she's gonna get it.

8. I like Teresa's accent - it's sexy....Laura Bush's accent - is trashy....
"You say Tomato, I say Tomatoe"

I guess it depends on each person's preference I guess....

PS: Now that Laura is criticizing Kerry and Edwards and taking on political issues like the stem cell research - all is fair now in the political arena....Laura Bush is fair game....

10. Yes, well, it fits Laura well
The Stepford wife image...a southern belle..
She annoys me. And as an aside- she dresses terribly.
Teresa is classy to me.
