McCain
I am losing respect for McCain. There is no way if someone slammed me and my family I could bring myself around to appearing as if this was all past. The same thing on credibility will happen to him as it has with Powell if he continues this charade of all is well between him and Bush.

1. I've lost about half the respect I had for McCain
He did at least slam the Swifboat Veterans for Lies ads. But as long as he's a Bush hugger, he's kind of lying himself.

4. I don't understand his appeal
He may have some slightly liberal views on a few issues, and will reject the most obviously moronic republicans and conservative beliefs/actions, but truly he's just your average partisan republican. His pathetic support of Bush (whose campaign in 2000 viciously, personally attacked him) just proves that.

6. I Would Have Voted For Him
He would have gotten my vote if he had cinched the nomination in 2000. Getting me to go with a Repub is no small feat.

Major sell-out now. :evilfrown:

I wonder how this is playing in his home state?

Cyn:)

9. As some of us here have tried to point out all along, he's REPUBLICAN
The idiot wing of the party who were having orgasms over the rumor that Kerry might possibly ask him to be VP absolutely boggled my mind. McCain was, is now, and will ALWAYS BE a fucking anti-choice, paleo-con REPUBLICAN! What part of that people didn't then and don't now get is beyond me.

14. With Further Aspirations
Even if he rejects some of the neo-con B.S. As a "mainline" Republican he can't offend the core. He wants further office and will need "Real Republicans" in four years to get there.

16. McCain to replace Cheney?
If the Republicans are smart enough to find some way to get Bush elected this time, puting McCain on the ticket as Veep might be enough to do it for them. McCain retains great popularity among moderate voters, and I would not be surprised if he has made some deal with Bush. Cheney has disgraced himself with his f**king remark to Sen. Leahy. Also it appears that he is about to be named as being deeply involved in the "outing" of Joe Wilson's wife as a CIA operative. Cheney is a real liability now. It will be interesting to see what transpires at the Republican convention.

11. I sent McCain an email.
Telling him how disappointed I was with him in his support of the group that attacked him, his wife, and his adopted child during the South Carolina primary. I got a reply in the way of a form email, but I bet if he receives thousands of these it would effect him. He knows a whore when he sees one, and I bet his house has mirrors.

13. Let McCain Know He's A Coward
If you really mean what YOU say, then let McCain hear it too.
The guy is spineless.
He functions just like Bush: Shoot first and then consider what you have said/done and fail to follow-up on your action in an appropriate manner.

I sent the following fax to McCain. I wouldn't send e-mails as they are more likely discarded by some volunteer:

Dear Senator McCain:

As a patriot and veteran of two branches of the Armed Services, I have always respected you as a man of integrity and courage.

Your criticism of President Bush regarding the transparently bogus and disgraceful anti-Kerry advertisement, was not surprising, and completely consistent with your history of honesty and fair play.

However, your decision to campaign with a President who refuses to repudiate attempts to assassinate the character and patriotism of a fellow veteran demonstrates that your morality is “for sale to the highest bidder,” and that convenience controls conscience.

Evidently you don’t care that Bush gave you the finger too.

As you know, men are judged by their actions and not their words.

Will your final legacy to our country be cowardice under (political) fire?

17. McCain was 100 times more of a warmonger in 2000 than Bush is now.
Edited on Wed Aug-11-04 08:46 AM by LimpingLib
He had press conferences telling reporters he wanted to bomb away at Libya , Syria , Iran , and Iraq and gave plans on the matter. He called it a de-radicalization plan or something like that.

People need to stop following their shepherds , being the media and their chosen heros.

Edit: What part of economic conservative , fiscal conservative (not bad in of itself necessarily) , social conservative (some moderation recently here but not on abortion), warmonger dont people understand?

23. McCain's a Republican, and he's a team player.
I don't like it, but I respect it. He knows that Bush is a clown, but he wants to maintain the influence him and those like him within the Republican party have to change its direction. If he came out against Bush, he'd never have a say in the GOP again on anything.

25. all you need to know about McCain
Edited on Wed Aug-11-04 10:55 AM by buycitgo

NEW YORK, Nov. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- By the time the South Carolina primarycame around, the Republican candidates had launched nasty campaigns andloathed each other. When the two men assembled for a group photo, TexasGovernor George W. Bush went over to Arizona Senator John McCain in his full I-love-ya-man mode, seizing both of McCain's hands in his own, one source tells Newsweek in the special election issue. "Let's not let this get personal, John," he said. "We've got to start running a better campaign."
McCain looked at Bush. "Don't give me that s--t," he growled, "and take your hands off of me," according to an exclusive report in Newsweek's special election issue.

27. Losing? I've Lost It
As someone who actively supported McCain in the 2000 primaries, I feel like a chump. Why he continues to stay with the GOP -- and openly endorses Bush who pulled the exact same shit on McCain that was pulled on Kerry -- has been one of the most frustrating and maddening political spectacles I have seen. There's loyalty, and then there's blind loyalty, I guess. But if I were a decorated veteran there would be no way in hell I would stay with a party that has no problem calling into question a fellow veteran's service record in such a disgusting way as the Swifties have. It is an insult to ALL veterans.

McCain should be ashamed of himself. He doesn't necessarily have to leave the party, but at least distancing himself from Bush would be a good start. It would prove to me, at least, that he does have a little integrity left.
