"I don't understand why I should get out of the race because Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June"
I watched the video to be sure... here it is, if you can stand to watch :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vyFqmp4wzI

She says she doesn't "understand" why she should quit and states EXPLICITLY that Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June, as a reason to stay in.

There is just no way around this. She went nuclear in a different way. All the other crap she pulled does not matter anymore because this is IT. She crossed "THE" line.

1. I think this is a case if hearing what you want to hear
She demonstrated historically how things can change up until the contest is over.

4. She put her foot in her mouth. There's no denying it.
Even if she tries to get out of it now by citing "history", it's been said and she can't take it back.

5. Could she not have come up with a better example than an assassination?
Come on now.

8. historically, things can change because somebody might get shot
sure, that's a historical fact. It's still a ghoulish and inappropriate thing to say.

12. listing assassination as an example of "how things can change" is irresponsible
Edited on Fri May-23-08 04:56 PM by virtualobserver
it shows her private thoughts about why she is staying in.

35. Its sociopathic, and against all the principles of leadership
I thought she really just f*kd up, then listened to her "apology". She really has no clue whatsoever...she doesn't get the idea that it would be wrong to benefit personally from the assassination of your competitor, and she doesn't get the idea that most people understand that it is wrong, and she is standing in a big indefensible hole.

And even worse, she doesn't understand that as a "leader" she has followers who will take her cue as to what is right and wrong, and what is ok. This is some screwed up sh*t...

13. She SAID it. She even used the word "assassinated".
I am sure there were lots of primaries with lots of candidates wrapping up their nom in June so WHY bring up the assassination?

You might be a case of this :

Why should this woman receive any pity or be allowed to speak for Democrats in any capacity. None.

34. Well, the Clintons have a history of "political lynching"

Adherence to the rule of law is not something normally associated with the clintons. Moreover, racial and ethnic disrespect, intimidation, exploitation and hate have always been a fundamental clinton tactic and the reflexive use the "N"-word and other racial and ethnic slurs, an essential element in the clinton lexicon. When the "first black president" and his wife ran Arkansas, the NAACP sued them for intimidating black voters at the polls.

Conversely, the clintons' refinement of the DNC drag and drop is, arguably, one of the more insidious and repugnant applications of their special brand of race-hate politics.

Calculating a black man's worth to be 5/3 of a vote is no less racist, and arguably more so, than calculating his worth to be 3/5 of a white man; the latter is demeaning, but the former is dehumanizing.

But it is even worse.

Listen to Randall Robinson in this video, read below about Rwanda. Only one conclusion is possible: A clinton legacy of lynching.

She was secretly hoping Obama would catch a bullet. And now she's openly dropping hints.

And that is very, very frightening coming from someone as powerful as she is.

18. In JUNE.
Edited on Fri May-23-08 05:01 PM by votesomemore
She emphasized JUNE twice. And linked it to the California primaries. Obviously California has already had their primary this year, so the only reason to mention it was to insert "assassination".

"I don't understand why I should get out of the race because Bobby Kennedy". Then I will say ok thats kind of fair but when she added the "was assassinated in June" part....I can't let that go.

is subject to interpretation of what she actually said but no. Explicit, clear as day.

17. The thing that burns me up is all this venom....
she has towards Obama. He has NEVER said she should get out of the race EVER. I have caught glances of hers during debates when it couldn't have been more clear what she was thinking..."You little upstart, how dare you come in and upset my apple cart".

This latest gaff and subsequent fallout, may just send her over the edge.

21. Actually it was June 5, 1968 at midnight when Bobby Kennedy was murdered
....so this is the 20th anniversary of his assassination, so of course this event would be on people's minds and being reported and discussed. Come on folks, this was not about any particular candidate getting shot

29. This was not a faux pas
There have been more than 2 examples of the democratic process going until June. The Mondale/Hart primary went on until June. If she were trying to make the historic reference she could have done it then. Actually it may have been a better comparison given that Hart won more states than Mondale.

I don't think that Hillary Clinton is as stupid as some of her supporters think that she is. She was purposeful in her statement. It is well timed with the statement by Huckabee last week. She said what she meant and she meant what she said. I'm in it until Obama blows up or is blown up. I don't see how anyone can try and shrug this statement off.

Shame on you Hillary Clinton.
