I was there - the Bushbots instigated the arguments and started the fights...

24. Yeah. He had to kick him in the ass because he was running
Typical Repuke coward. All talk and no action. Big mouth "big it on's" then run and hide behind the police. It IS the 60's again. Wow what fun. :)

2. Ah these are the good old days, come again.

This is nothing like the street brawls that uses to happen in New York in the 1820s during elections. I am referring to Gore Videls BURR.

It would not be safe to do that in Texas. Still I bet the Repugs, feeling desparate are on a hair trigger. Might not take much to set one off.

20. I don't need a gun to kick their slimy ass
If they feel they have to shoot an unarmed person then so be it but I will kick their ass no matter how many guns they have.

3. We may see more of that as election day gets closer.
I would not be shocked to see voting polls closed early or not even opened at all by local police who are bush supporters. Start a riot, and close em down. Public safety you see.

I have come to expect nothing less than the worst from this years crop of republicans.

15. More like the Brownshirts
bullying, intimidating their way into local politics.
The worst ones are religiously motivated.

18. Absolutely!
The "christian" radio in this neck of the woods should be called "demon" radio. It is horrible, there is nothing "christ-like" in any of their programing. It really is like Nazi radio.

We had some republicrap buttwad from tex-ass come to town and buy up the local media. After that, that homosexual hating preacher from Kansas showed up, the National Alliance (national neo-nazi) opened headquarters, and the Neo-confederate lingo has become common. We are even having violent hate crimes committed with little or no police investigation. They are all good christians you see.

The republicraps are really screwing up the world, and they consider it "holy".

19. Looks like we have our work cut out for us, bro
Some has GOT to set a better example or standard. In a situation like that I want to think I am acting more llike Aticus in To Kill A Mockingbird.
We have to stand for something and I have always believed respect and decency will transcend hate and fear mongering. But you have to call them on it.

Sometimes I tune into demon radio to see where they are coming from - attitudinally.
It seems like they just prey on people with cultural obsessions.
Much of the invective they spew out is based on something mis represented or distorted or out right mendacious.

You will never go broke marketing to bigotry, greed and Hate-triotism.
In another age they would have been screaming 'Juden Raus!" or attending lynchings.
I take it you are from the South too.

25. Actually, I am from the North,
and that may be a liability in this regard. We do not have many who have living history with the tribulations of the south. Their rubbish sells swiftly, and few are here to say "wait a minute, I know where that leads, and it is not a good thing".

After the "passion" opened at the theaters, I encountered one ranting and tortured soul lamenting that the jews had killed Jesus.

No, I told him, Jesus was actually condemned by the Roman authorities, and killed by the Roman Centurions; all of whom were "citizens of the republic" "Therefore, I concluded, It would be more accurate to claim that Jesus was killed by the Republicans"

Goodness gracious! He got festering hot, and I cannot type what his response to me was.

5. "....losing short foot race"!!!!!!
Anti-Bush demonstrator Ryan Del Lewis, 27, of the 5400 block of Olive Road was arrested after reportedly kicking a Bush supporter in the buttocks and losing a short foot race with officers, Pensacola police said.

The man Lewis supposedly kicked, Nathan C. Hillman, 40, of the 2100 block of North Palafox Street, also was arrested. Police said Hillman, who attended the Bush rally, spit in Lewis' face after the two men began arguing.

6. I like this quote from the article:
On Garden Street, Pensacola resident Randall Joseph Aronson, 48, demonstrated alone, carrying a pro-Kerry sign. A Secret Service agent dressed in a black suit approached Aronson and asked if he had any weapons.

"No," Aronson replied as a steady stream of Bush supporters walked by. "You're here for my protection. I'm slightly outnumbered."

7. OK- they DID arrest the Republican spitter
Edited on Wed Aug-11-04 10:55 AM by Kanzeon
I think that spitting in someone's face is the equivalent of "fighting words" in many places- might even be "assault."

10. "No difference?" Oh please!
For one thing, Kerry is publicly speaking about withdrawing American troops within 6-12 months while Bush is saying we need more (American troops).

11. The "Great Uniter"..................
does it again. This is what it's come to in our country. This once great country that is fast becoming the most hated and laughed at in the world. All because a spoiled frat boy and his minions stole an election and considered that a mandate from the people to enact thier fascist policies.
Maybe the CONservatives are right, maybe I am starting to hate my country.

17. The guy with the "Revolution" sign was the one that got spit on
The guy in the teeshirt and cuffs (2nd pic) did the spitting and got his ass kicked for it.

The police were there in full riot gear, armed with submachine guns and had a 24 foot U-Haul truck parked nearby with a similarly-armed quick reaction force inside.

The Secret Service was there too with roof-top snipers.

They ordered the protesters away from the Civic Center entrance and the Happy Kool-Aid Drinkers filing in.

They should have kept the freepers away from the protesters as well.

28. It's pathetic that FL rents its rapid response truck from UHAUL.
You can't drive 4 hours on an American highway without seeing a broken down UHAUL truck.

My one and only experience as a juror dealt with just such a case.

What about the people with Bush signs? This is very odd and it doesn't pass the smell test.

27. Why would the paper give someone's "almost" address?
That concerns me.
Why narrow their location down to one block?
Why not just "Joe Blow, a resident of Pensacola", or Milton, or Gulf Breeze, or whatever?
Is it tinfoil hat time for ol' trof?
