Karl Rove nano-management: GOP covers up Heinz labels at luncheons...
Edited on Wed Aug-11-04 02:21 PM by Richardo
This from 'All Things Considered' on NPR Monday night.

Anybody hear this incredible piece of pettiness? They have some functionary slap a Bush/Cheney sticker over each and every ketchup bottle label at the event. (I'll try to supply a link) Try this - you have to listen to the audio.) http://www.npr.org/rundowns/rundown.php?prgDate=09-Aug-2004&prgId=2

Given that neither Kerry (nor Theresa) have anything to do with the running of Heinz, I'll bet the boys in the executive suite at Heinz (as well as the stockholders) would have a thing or two to say about this...especially the ones misguided enough to be Bush supporters.

I'll be right back after I fire off an e-mail to Pittsburgh. Be funny to hear about stockholder backlash against Bush/Cheney for this juvenile crap.

6. I wonder if Heinz foods stops donating to Republicans soon
They donate to both parties, but most of their corporate donations go to Republicans.

Given the way the Republicans have been kicking them around, I wouldn't bbe too surprised to see them stop donating to them.

It's a classic Republican plan, though: They act on bad intelligence (that Theresa Heinz-Kerry has anything to do with the Heinz corporation) to shoot their own interests in the foot.

8. I Bet Heinz Corporation Doesn't Donate to the Repubs Any More For a While
I could imagine that the corporate officers of Heinz 57 just might be a little offended.

9. Ease up - I suspect this is some staffer's idea of a joke. Think about it
If there were a "Bush" ketchup you don't think someone would put a "Kerry" sticker on the bottles at a Dem function for laughs?

20. I'm sure * has nothing to do with Bush's Baked Beans...
...in the same way that Theresa Heinz-Kerry has nothing to do with Hienz Ketchup. That's the whole point.

13. In Detroit, meanwhile, Repukes can choke on a big weiner
Comerica Park (home of our beloved Tigers) serves Heinz ketchup and mustard exclusively. Normally, I'd tell the Rethugs to choke on THAT, but there are only about 12 or 14 Republicans left in Detroit.

14. OK: Here's my e-mail to H.J. Heinz Corp...
Edited on Wed Aug-11-04 03:59 PM by Richardo
<disclaimer> I warn you - it's not as vitriolic as I would have liked, but I've found you get better responses if you come at the problem from the COMPANY's point of view...</disclaimer>

"I listened with great interest to a feature on National Public Radio's "All Things Considered" program on Monday, August 9, 2004 that prominently mentioned a Heinz product.

The story described the efforts of the President Bush's campaign team to ensure that each stop goes perfectly, from hand-picking the audience to having them provide written statements of support ("loyalty oaths").

One illustration of this total event control stuck out. The story made a pointed reference to the fact that the labels of Heinz ketchup bottles at these luncheons are covered over by a Bush/Cheney sticker, (apparently to minimize confusion among the partisans and to distance the Bush campaign from any connection with Kerry and therefore H.J. Heinz.)

H. J. Heinz has devoted considerable time and expense to explaining that neither John Kerry nor Theresa Heinz Kerry has any part in the management or operations of the company – in fact, that Theresa Heinz Kerry’s stock holdings amount to 4% ownership of the company. The Bush/Cheney team, by their actions at these fund-raising events, is completely disregarding these facts and is in fact furthering the efforts of the rumor-mongers and muckrakers to distort the relationship between Heinz and the Kerrys.

I bring this to your attention because the management, employees and stockholders of H.J. Heinz, who are merely trying to make a living selling their products to ALL Americans, are adversely affected by the sophomoric behavior by the Bush/Cheney team. "

19. Almost as scary as Ashcroft...
covering up the breasts on a STATUE at the DOJ. or the fact that if a pager or cell phone goes off in the oval office W practically goes through the roof and can't focus.
