TPM: Smearboat effective in persuading independents
Edited on Wed Aug-11-04 05:40 PM by swag
"I just saw a preview of a study that finds the Swift Boat ads against quite effective among independents in raising doubts about John Kerry's war record. And that suggests that Karl Rove will want to send more money toward the group running the ad.

This of course is only the beginning."

1. Swiftboat Vets for Bush
are getting more coverage than Kerry's surrogates trying to straighten the record out. More people have seen that ad on cable news shows than from one of the paid tv spots.

2. It's just the beginning of the smears
We'll all need hip boots in another six weeks.

I predict a godawful, scurrilous attack on Kerry. Rove is a monster and Bush will do ANYTHING to stay in power. Absolutely ANYTHING

3. Of course it's effective...
...when the complicit corpowhore media just repeats accusations without any sort of critical evaluation or friggin JOURNALISM! Furthermore, as said above, surrogates don't get the face time to effectively refute. And "independent voters" (that precious 15% of 15 states that decide in the last 15 minutes before they vote) are notoriously stupid, market driven sheep.

6. The VetSmear Campaign was very effectively designed. Doesn't help to Dis
Rove on this effort: timely, effective, ruthlessly executed.

8. Kerry's getting Gored
he's getting VERY BAD advice from his campaign stategists. He needs to clean house again- this election is too important to leave in the hands of people like Tad Devine, who never seems to learn.

9. For about $200,000 they got on every *bleeping* station in the nation
The liberal media is a sham. This never should have had coverage and then they replay it constantly. :argh:
