5. I gave money to Dean when he began
and I have the greatest respect for him,

BUT I voted for McGovern, another good man, who lost. This election is way too important not to put forth the candidate with the best chance of defeating Bush.

Dean and my choice of Clark were gone by the time of the CA primary, so I voted for Kucinich and now I'm very happy with Kerry as the nominee. :-)

17. We have to believe in our candidate and screw the media.
When the people lead the leaders (and media) will follow.

22. i agree, but if the candidate insists on being oblivious to the media
as Dean apparantly was, which is admirable by the way, he is simply doomed.

i'm not saying it wouldn't be possible for Dean to have won the election amidst all of that, just that it would have been immensely harder, and i'm of the persuassion that believes the media would win out, because too many of us people are too disconnected, dissassociated, and different to pull it together on our own in the face of the Rovemachine, radio, and mainstream media onslaughts.

guess i'm a pessimist...

13. Not in the least
I was a Clark supporter during the primaries, but now am firmly behind Kerry. Given the alternative, is there any other choice? :nuke:

15. I'm proud to have voted for Kucinich.
I wish I had had the opportunity to vote for Clark, and if it had been a choice between Dean and Kerry I would have gone for Kerry. Although I initially started out as a Dean supporter, I eventually came to believe that Kerry would be more electable and probably more effective at governing than Dean if he had won.

16. More DUers for Bush
The thread that points out that Bush, himself, said the vote WAS NOT for war dies a fast death. Bashing Kerry lives on! Once again, Dems prove we're our own worst enemy.

24. That's not true. Kerry was NEVER a shill for the DLC. In fact, he wasn't
supported by ANY of the main leaders there during the primaries...not until they saw he would win.

Kerry racked up a record that was the furthest left of all the DLC members. In comparison, Howard Dean was one of their furthest right members while he was governor.

Why you perpetuate this untrue assertion that someone with as progressive a record as Kerry's is a shill is beyond belief. Fact: Kerry never accepted corporate pac money in any of his Senate races. None.

Methinks you must not be fully aware of Kerry's entire record of facing down the DC powerstructure including establishment Dems, the GOP, FBI and their right wing media machines who all joined together to OSTRACIZE Kerry and take him down when he was investigating and exposing BCCI and IranContra.

If there is ONE lawmaker who is NOT beholden to ANY group, it's Kerry.

Stop slandering the man with sophomoric memes when you know very little about him. And anyone who knows so little about Kerry must be fairly ignorant of important issues of governance from the last 35 years.

21. I have nothing against Dean...
...but he wasn't electable. Not that it matters what I think since I can't vote (Canadian) but IMO it's a matter of priorities, and #1 has to be to Bush's removal. Plain and simple.

26. i voted for dean in the primary
but i now believe kerry is the right pick at this time in history to take on the bush administration.

i do prefer many of dean's policies, his toughness, his ability to fire up a crowd and ignite the base, but i believe kerry is the man to take bush down.

it's a must that we have a man with a military background to stand up to bush on terror, because unfortunately, that's what it's going to come down to this november, protecting the homeland.

bush and cheney have NOTHING on john kerry. and i believe he WILL be elected, and will be one of our best presidents.

so i'm glad i voted for dean in the primary, but i'm glad in the end, kerry's the one to go against bush.
