Spotlight on MA County Sheriff Candidate - African American Woman
Andrea Cabral, is running for sheriff in Suffolk County (where Boston is located). This candidate is a woman, she is African-American.

Here is the County site wiht her bio: http://www.scsdma.org/sheriffOffice/sheriffBio.html

She was appointed by a Republican governor, and six months later changed her party affiliation from Republican to Democrat.

Andrea Cabral is the kind of candidate we talk about, we hope for, and we should support. I ask you to contribute to her campaign - even small donations ($10, $20) will make a difference.

"Soliciting funds is challenging because Cabral does not have a ''preestablished base."

Here is her campaign website: http://www.sheriffcabral.com

She recently had to loan her campaign money, as she faces a serious challenge from her primary challenger (essentially the primary is the election). Her challenger is a long-time insider in the Democratic party - I am not saying he is a bad guy, just that she is a great candidate.

Suffolk County Sheriff Andrea J. Cabral announced yesterday that she is reaching into her personal savings for a $40,000 loan to boost her campaign against Councilor at Large Stephen J. Murphy, acting a few weeks after her campaign account dipped to $325.55.

I am not affiliated with the campaign in anyway. I just want to see Andrea win.

Andrea Cabral is a poor candidate and a lousy sheriff. The AFL-CIO has endorsed Murphy, and for good reason.

Cabral tried to balance her budget by illegally using the workers pension funds, and was cited for it.

The Greater Boston Labor Council (AFL-CIO), of which I am a member, endorsed Kerry early, has and continues to send Union workers into NH for John Kerry. Our Labor Council consists of over one hundred Unions in the Baston Area.

At our June meeting, Ms. Cabral and Mr. Murphy sought our endorsement. In order to obtain that endorsement, the candidate must receive 2/3 of the Unions at our meeting. Murphy received over 90%.

As a City Councillor, Murphy has a stellar voting record on Labor issues, Cabral, on the other hand, leaves much to be desired.

Before anyone at this site is fooled into thinking of supporting the Republican candidate in the Democratic Primary, take a que from Organized Labor in Suffolk County, Murphy for Sheriff.
