I wrote a post in this forum yesterday about two invitations that I have sitting on my desk.

One is for a private dinner in my neighborhood for the Bush campaign. The cost for attending the dinner is $15k. I would have to submit my name and social security number with the RSVP.

The other is for the Kerry event at Waterfront Park in Portland. The event is free and open to the public. Although they issued (free) tickets at the beginning of the week, they dropped the need for tickets by yesterday.

The differences couldn't be more stark here in Portland. The local media is pointing out the differences, subtly in some cases. One news website says that one has to volunteer at the Bush phone bank in order to get a ticket to one of his other events (private, of course).

I am thoroughly disgusted.
