If you criticize your child, does that mean you hate him/her?
If you exhort your child to behave morally, does that mean you want him/her to fail?

If you scold your child when he does something wrong, does that mean you want to hurt him/her?

If you defend, condone and rationalize every action your child takes, no matter how wrong and misguided, what kind of adult will he/she grow up to be?

Does any of the above apply when "child" is replaced with "presidential candidate?"

3. Hmmm
Do you really believe criticizing your child when he/she has the biggest event of his/her life coming up in 2 months is beneficial? Do you really think if your child is engaged in an activity that you really don't know anything about, you should be offering anything more than encouragement and support? Do you really think that engaging in handwringing over every single thing your child says or does is effective parenting? Do you even have kids?

4. Absolutely squares with the Chimp.
If you defend, condone and rationalize every action your child takes, no matter how wrong and misguided, what kind of adult will he/she grow up to be?

this is not very likely to happen - but it could produce childern with sociopathic tendencies. I am thinking that the Chimp grew up in an environemnt that was anything BUT nurturing. My guess is huge ammounts of scathing criticism and withlehd acceptance are combined with protecting the child from the consequences of its behivior. Kind of a double whammy.

I never believed in a my country right or wrong. I kind of hope that died with the Vietnam war.

6. I think theres a fine line between bashing and criticism
I can stand criticism but I can't stand bashing like hes the same as Bush, blah blah, that I wont tolerate now criticism like what is he thinking on the war, trade, etc is fine. I also can't stand stupid things being used against him, like I saw the "reporting for duty" called militaristic. If you criticize the guy in a fair tone, realize that he agrees with you more than not, and have legit criticism, I think ethuistatic people won't get so upset, at least I wouldnt as easily.
