Hardball Tonight
Did anyone see Hardball tonight?

John Hurley from Veterans for Kerry and that idiot John O'Neill were on.

O'Neill spoke non-stop for most of the first part of the show. He spew out ridiculous lies about Kerry, saying that he shouldn't have gotten a medal for saving the Boston Whaler from a VC with an RPG because the VC was "just a kid", that Kerry made up being hit with shrapnel when the medical reports say he was indeed hit, and saying that he was NOT a Republican from Texas and that the Swift Boat Veterans for the Truth liked John Kerry but just didn't think he was a hero.

Chris Matthews struck back at O'Neill, asking him "Do you think George Bush was braver?"

O'Neill never answered.

Hurley gave clear evidence that Kerry had earned all his medals and challenged O'Neill to prove him wrong.

O'Neill just lied and said "We interviewed 3 of Kerry's fellow crew members and they agreed with me." But he couldn't name any of them.

Later, while Hurley was speaking, O'Neill said, "I was given enough time to speak."

Matthews slammed him, saying "Do you want me to clock you? I'll tell you how much time you spoke and you got more than enough. That is a conservative tactic."

Chris Matthews did a pretty good job tonight. It was a good show overall.

1. Matthews actually played "Hardball" with O'Neill tonight.
I thought O'Neill's rug was going to fly right off his head--he was so frustrated!

2. yea, even I had to hand it to Tweety ... he acted like an investigative
anchor rather than a run-away mouth, and he ABSOLUTELY STUCK it to O'Neill ... that swiftdouchebag couldn't even say one sentence without reading his talking points cheat sheet, whereas Hurley didn't have to have ONE piece of paper in front of him ...

something about "if you tell the truth, you don't need notes cuz the story is ALWAYS the same" -- but then, we know the other side all too well ...

for tonite, at least, I say kudos to Tweety (maybe he's getting jealous at all the good vibes we send/get from Olberman (LOL)

3. Why Didn't Tweety Follow Up?
On O'Neill's Texas/BFEE/GOOP Connections?
On his Clerking for Rehnquist after his Colson/Watergate days?
On his blatant lie he is a Democrat when there's a large trail of contributions to Repugnicans
On his association with Corsi, and his racist and partisan connections
On the various "Texas Rangers" that are funding this slimeball operation and whose O'Neill's real bosses.

Sorry, Tweety let O'Neill off the hook at numerous times where he shouldn't have, and O'Neill kept on lying. Tweety choked.

4. I just don't think there was enough time to hit him with everything---
they only had him on for about 30 minutes.

5. Sorry...He Had O'Neill Dead To Right And Let Him Go...
Tweety spent way too much time on O'Neill's allegations rather than the issue of O'Neill's blatant lies and credibility.

Matthews said straight out he knew there were Conservative spin games going on...and anyone whose seen O'Neill's appearances in recent days saw him pull the same crap tonight as he did with Hannity & Buchanan. I expect those partisans to let Kerry get slimed, but not Tweety; who knows what's happening here and could have really blown the lid off this story.

He had the guy up on the ropes and let him slip away...Tweety got rope-a-doped.

6. O'Neill hung himself and Tweety gave him the rope. . .

His story changed over the course of the interview. . .

At first Purple Hearts for minor wounds. . .by the end Purple Hearts for self-inflicted wounds.

There are other examples. . .tweety let the guy go on and on to get contradictions out there.

7. Yeah...where did that self-inflicted wounds line come from?
Have I missed something in the SmearBoatVet lie campaign?

8. But He Let Him Ramble When He Knew They Were Lies
O'Neill's been making the rounds for several months now with this same tactic and, while you can expose the obvious fraudulent nature of his charges and stories, he keeps on going. He hasn't been shut down and this has caused this story to roll far longer and damage Kerry.

The Veterans For Kerry spokesman, just like William Crowe, were trying to be diplomatic to avoid turning into a partisan shill from the other side, but Tweety is supposed to be "straight up".

It's time to stop these hoodlums cold and expose them for all to see. If not then be prepared for more of these attacks to be common in political campaigns. This regime has gone far enough with their devious activities, Tweety did his nation a big diservice tonight by giving this asshole a forum, knowing the guy is a total fraud and didn't take him down.

Maybe there's a journalist out there who might finally out this asshole. But this was the best chance of any of the talk shows, and, again, Tweety choked!

11. Tweety was OUTSTANDING!!!!...
and set the hook beautifully for this asshole to take the bait. He allowed him to ramble on, digging himself a hole that a mole couldn't dig out of of and then cut him to pieces in a precise, surgical manner! I don't know how O'Neill could have looked worse!! It was classic cross-examination in my book and Tweety is to be congratulated!!!

12. O'Neill Still Is Lying...Who Is Going To Shut Him Down?
Congratulated? Hardly. I've watched this show twice and the second time, knowing what I had seen earlier, it made me even madder.

The baits been set for this bastard on a string of interviews over the past week. Tweety didn't bring up anything that hadn't been reported in the meager coverage O'Neill's background has gotten.

I posted earlier things that Tweety knows, had O'Neill set up to expose him and didn't go for the jugular.

We don't need to hear any more of O'Neill's lies. He's slandering Kerry and the U.S. Navy and many veterans who went to Nam (that crap about "combat zone" tonight was sickening).

Sorry, the time is past to deal with appearances here. This is a time the gloves should have come off and Tweety choked.

Instead of tomorrow's headlines being O'Neill's long papertrail, he'll go on another Hate talk show and keep spreading his lies and libel. And you think this was Oustanding?

10. Yep!
I was starting to think Matthews was being a little too passive, but he really hit a home run.

Matthews sees this for what it is.

 Two Thumbs up For O'Neill Being exposed
