"Mrs. Reagan said she fully supports Bush's re-election."
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040813/ap_on_el_pr/bush&cid=694&ncid=2043

LOS ANGELES - President Bush (news - web sites) on Thursday won the embrace of two California Republican icons, Nancy Reagan and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (news - web sites), hoping their glow would rub off on him in a state that remains hostile territory to him.

Schwarzenegger joked that he has been working hard for Bush's campaign, saying, "I've been organizing Republicans for Bush-Cheney, I've been organizing ... bodybuilders for Bush-Cheney, I've been organizing girlie men for Bush-Cheney."

Earlier, Bush and his wife stopped by the home of former first lady Nancy Reagan in the Bel-Air section of Los Angeles, where Mrs. Reagan said she fully supports Bush's re-election. After meeting for about an hour, the three emerged from the house and the president told reporters that he and Mrs. Bush were "honored to pay our respects."

"I'm so glad you came," said Mrs. Reagan, who later issued a statement expressing "my hope that everyone will join" in supporting Bush's campaign. The president and Mrs. Reagan did not discuss their disagreement over Bush's restrictions on stem cell research, caps that the former first lady opposes. They took no questions from reporters.

6. Now now.....
She has came out for stem cell research. And I will bet you she doesn't really like Shrub, but "endorsed" him anyways. I am not sure what kind of arm twisting they did, but what Ron Jr said is going to be way more powerful...

24. Exactly.
In response to Stepford Wife Bush's slam about stem-cell research this week, I fully expected Nancy to have the guts to come out and declare she was going to vote for John Kerry.

Guess Nancy's still just Nancy - she wasn't much then, she ain' much now either.

But wait 'til Ron has a whack at the Stepford Wife. He'll verbally knock her plastic teeth down her plastic throat.

5. She is a stupid woman to support a dangerous person just because he
is a Republican like her late husband....There can be no other reason, but she has an out if she chooses...She can support her son, who is AGAINST Bush and his policies...

7. AP got it right..."hoping their glow would rub off on him."
It's the same concept as "Bush and Cheney can't run on their own record, so they attack Kerry and Edwards."

Bus has no "glow," so he has to siphon off of someone else's. He's a barnacle, a parasite, a leech. The photo doesn't lie:

8. Come on....
She is in her 80's have some respect. I think she doesn't care for Shrub since the Regans and Bush's didn't get along. They probably did some armtwisting to get this...She probably agrees more with her son Ron Jr.....

11. She is mentally alert so being in her 80's is not an issue
She should be thinking of the future of her country....If she agrees with her son then she should SAY SO!....No offence but this is too important!...:)

9. Three Stooges
Indicates how desperate George aWol Bush is needing a muscle-bound "movie star" and taking advantage of a grieving widow.

I would nominate Nancy Reagan as Co-Hypocrite of the Year along with John McCain, except that she may be in the early stages of dementia.

Bush is the best poster child for why we need intensive stem cell research and Nancy may be fast joining him.

10. I have been defending Nancy on this thread...
Look I don't think she agrees with Shrub and probably agrees with Ron Jr. She did come out for stem cell research. She doesn't rub in the glory of her husband like the conservatives want her to. Plus she is in her 80's and it may be possible for them to manipulate her...

12. Just say "no", Nancy ...if you mean what you say
Reagan was always full of shit, so I guess I shouldn't expect her to be any different.

Nancy is a blindly loyal GOP gal, even if it means she has to betray her values and opinions.

So much for validity.

14. I don't think she is blindly loyal...
She supports stem cell research. And she didn't play when it came to hyping her husbands legacy. Something she could have easily done.

If you remember there was a movement to put Regan on currency and she flatly refused to allow it...

16. I bet Nancy Reagan will not vote for Bush.
She may not vote for Kerry and she may not vote at all, but she will not vote for bush. She is just supporting the party line in honor of her husband.

This is an election where voting for one side or the other is of the UTMOST IMPORTANCE....Usually the result is not this important....She can make a difference that can effect the world.....I don't buy the notion that she is old so let it be....She is alert and aware....

22. Anyone who thought that
Nancy Reagan would come out on the side of the Democrats can't know that much about her.

She is the red hot conservative who spear-headed the disasterous war on drugs. How could anyone think she would stand with us on anything?
